[edit]bum fights 4 is "The Return Of Ruckus" not the return of roofus (roofus isnt even in part 4) and that Bumfights 5 is non existants (FAKE!)
There was recently an interview (on CBC Radio One) with the homeless man who was involved in the whole "Bum Fights" bit, and a series of others, that raised a whole lot of issues over the controversy over this video series. Should that not be a big part of this article considering how many people it's pissed off? Chewbacca1010 22:50, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I've listened to that show. It was very interesting. It was featured on The Current, hosted by Anna Maria Tramonte. Yet, I can't find that particular show in their archives to put a link at the bottom of this page.--Maflebouc 17:12, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Dr. Phil Show
[edit]The creator of Bum Fights appeared on the Dr. Phil Show today ( December 12, 2006) on an episode about media controversy. The creator of the show defended himself, saying that he was actually helping people. He even claimed to be providing a service and filling a need for people who crave violence and want to see violence against homeless people. He also admitted that while he paid the homeless people $20 or a bottle of alcohol for their appearances, he himself has made millions of dollars. After watching a video taped interview of the creator, Dr. Phil called him and his videos "despicable" and asked him to leave the stage immediately. When he refused to leave, security guards escorted him off of the set and Dr. Phil explained that he refused to have such a "despicable" person on his show. Dr. Phil's next guests included a woman whose homeless brother was murdered in a style similar to bum fights, and a homeless advocate who sited several cases where people what committed crimes against the homeless based on the bum fights videos.
Could someone please incorporate this into the article?
- Saw that on YouTube - I thought it was a cheap hypocrisy from the host. Apparently, the scumbag guest shaved his head and dressed in a suit to mock Dr Phd.--19:52, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Dr. Phil claiming that he hadn't seen the video prior to that is just BS. If you have a TV show named after you, wouldn't you think that he would have some creative control over the content of his show. He had to know what this persons work was all about before having him on. It seems to me he just ignored it untill the guy got on stage and then booted him off to put himself over as a moral hero, instead of the moron that he is. Basbalfrk 21:06, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, just about every TV or radio show with the host's name tacked on the title relies on his producers to cast the show for him. And, it is true that most of the time these hosts haven't the slightest clue who their guests are or know what are on the videos prior to airing. Besides Dr. Phil, shows like Howard Stern, Bill O'Reilly, Jerry Stringer and many others are produced this way. Howard Stern especially - time and time again he complains about his producers bringing on worthless guests, and he ends up having to kill air time that would otherwise have been spent on the guest he earlier kicked out of the studio. So unless someone can prove that Dr. Phil indeed viewed the video and read about Bumfights ahead of time, I believe that he was sincere. Groink 09:05, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- I really trust Dr. Phil about as far as I can throw him (He's around 260lbs) so I think that says a lot. He does some things for charity but that's about all he's really done to help people. I highly doubt most of the people who go on his show are really helped. His pop psychology really doesn't help people as far as I know. I could go into an anti-dr.phil rant right now but that's off topic from this so I won't. What I will say is that we should get some sources on this talk page about the producer of Bumfights side of the story and figure out what really happened which we may include in the article.Wikidudeman 13:50, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Clearly he had seen the tape, as he warned the audience extensively that it contained sick material not suitable for children (paraphrasing there) which was obviously more extensive a warning than usually given. Even if he had not seen the tape, when told by the producers to warn so extensively, he would obviously want to see the video to make sure it wasn't goatse or something (a bit much, but you get the point, no?). FGSFDS dr. phil was just trying to look good for his audience.
I deleted the blurb in the Dr. Phil section explaining that his kicking the producer off the set was "Likely due to the fact the guest was wearing a "Dr. Phil" costume and Dr. Phil likely figured the Bum Fights producer was going to display the fact his exploitation of persons for personal gain was not much different than Dr. Phil's." This sounds completely non-objective, and the purpose of this article is to portray the facts about Bumfights, not knock Dr. Phil (whether you like him or not).

Dr. Phil is taped and he bothered to air it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.162.155.57 (talk) 11:29, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Just because his name is on the show does not mean he has any actual control over what is on it or whether an episode shows. Plus there is also the fact that the rest of the show had actual value to it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.111.105.81 (talk) 12:02, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Change of name.
Bumfights 4: Return Of Rufus is not called that.
It's called Bumfights 4: Return Of "Ruckus" not "rufus" but "ruckus". It says it on their home page.

The producer of "Bumfights" went on Dr. Phil's show and got the bum's rush. (Sorry! I just couldn't resist!). 67.45.113.35 (talk) 16:24, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
- The video of him being kicked off is still making the rounds years later, so seems to have some staying power! - There's a few references for it, so I have included it. It is notable for being a rare situation where Dr PHil kicked a host off an interview, even before the interview started. Deathlibrarian (talk) 13:06, 27 September 2022 (UTC) Teh Dr Phil story is a bit weird in that the guy that appeared on there, is not one of the four official founders of the show. He appears to have been someone organised by rival claimants to the show, according to an interview in Rolling Stone. Odd. Deathlibrarian (talk) 13:20, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
Broken Link
[edit]I'm not sure where it's supposed to go, but this link (near the end of the article) is broken. Elliotharmon 15:16, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Ty Beeson's MMA fight
[edit]Ty Beeson apparently got into an MMA fight and lost. Anyone wanna cite that on the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.225.120.199 (talk) 14:57, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
I found it here on YouTube, that definitely looks like him to me! Someone add it in if they feel the need. --Fradge (talk) 09:29, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
