Borton-Lawson

Hi Pegasus. Why do you say that "winning multiple awards is an assertion of notability"? If I won the Bedok North Hopscotch Classic 12 times in a row, that would hardly be an assertion of notability. As you may see from the talk page of the article whose speedy you declined, there is no indication of significant news coverage of these awards or the fact that the subject was their recipient. Do a Google news search of Borton-Lawson award and check all dates to satisfy yourself. Bongomatic (talk) 06:21, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is in deciding which awards are truly worth the bytes they're spelt out in. I can't do that - my brain can't hold The List of All Notable Awards Ever Awarded - thus sticking to a really literal and strict definition of A7 (i.e., just a mention of winning a credible-sounding award averts instant deletion) helps me in this case; if no one cares just prod the article; if someone cares, we could always thresh out the question in AfD. Took your advice to prod it. Appreciate the reply. Bongomatic (talk) 06:30, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I want a second opinion regarding the Environmentalism section in the article Beliefs and ideology of Osama bin Laden. The opening sentence in this section is "Osama bin Laden, and his aides have, on more than one occasions, denounced the United States for damaging the environment". I think a wikilink will be good for "damaging the environment". Is Environmental degradation a good link for this phrase? I mean will it be right to pipelink Environmental degradation for the words "damaging the environment", i.e. damaging the environment? Please advice. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 13:50, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As a totally uninvolved editor, who's just read both articles for the first time, I would say "go ahead". "Environmental degradation" would be synonymous with "damaging the envoronment" in this context. Pegasus «C¦ 13:55, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of article on Aqua Connect

Why did you delete the article on Aqua Connect. There was no discussion of any product, and there was nothing that sold or promoted the product. It simply stated what the company did, and it was also referenced from neutral and independent sources. There is no reason for your deletion of this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MacJarvis (talkcontribs) 22:08, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"There was no discussion of any product, and there was nothing that sold or promoted the product." - Wow! That is an incredibly honest thing to say, considering that in the version I deleted, after three short paragraphs which state that "Aqua Connect is an IT company...", "it has two products...", and it "was founded in the spring of 2007...", then goes on to eight - eight - long paragraphs in two sections titled "technology overview" and "Aqua Connect Terminal Server 3.0". Even a fool could've guessed what those paragraphs said just by looking at the section titles. "No discussion of any product", huh?
To cut it short, the article went into great detail regarding the products' features. And if that's not "promotion of a product two products", I don't know what is.
"it was also referenced from neutral and independent sources" - another honest thing to say considering that the references section was nowhere to be found when I looked at the page. Pegasus «C¦ 23:38, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies for adding the part about the product, I thought I had deleted it from the entry. Besides that, I thought adding the external links would create a reference page- it did not. Now I know how to do that. I don't appreciate your sarcasm or rudeness, this has been my first wiki entry and a little help will make the article worthy of a wiki. Could you please let me try another build and let me know what it will need.

What would I need to do in oder to get the page up. The importance of the company: they are the FIRST company to provide terminal services for the Mac platform. This means that VM Ware's VDI software, which is on Wiki, would be based off of Aqua Connect's technology. I know it is not fair to compare other pages, but companies who compete against Aqua Connect have Wiki pages with their products all over it (VM Ware). I just want to know what to do to get an article up for a company and technology that deserves it, but in a manner in which it will be acceptable to Wiki's terms. Thanks for the help. Like I said, I have a new build that should suffice.— Preceding unsigned comment added by MacJarvis (talkcontribs)

Are there any articles in third-party reliable sources (not blogs or wikis) that back up what you claim? Pegasus «C¦ 01:14, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Computer World, ZD Net, Macsium, Far Away Mac, ArsTechnica. All of these are reputable Mac and computer software websites. Here are the links: http://www.macsimumnews.com/index.php/archive/aqua_connect_terminal_server_30_now_supports_leopard/ http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2007/09/04/aqua-connect-brings-thin-client-terminal-services-to-mac http://blogs.zdnet.com/virtualization/?p=525 (This is a very reputable blog by two experts and professionals in the IT industry and Access Virtualization) http://www.farawaymac.com/mac-server/category/terminal-server/ http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9110980

I've also noticed that companies and products use their own White Paper's and reference stuff to their own website. Can I reference and use stuff from the Aqua Connect website and official documents. This company is important to be include in Wikipedia because it can also be inserted into articles on Terminal Servers, RDP, and Access Virtualization. I see this company being a significant addition to Wikipedia. Let me know how to proceed. Thank for the help.— Preceding unsigned comment added by MacJarvis (talkcontribs)

I still do not believe the company is notable, and will not be assisting you any further. All the links you hve provided me so far have been passing mentions of the company's product, not the company itself, on blogs and suchlike. Which, as I've said before, are not reliable sources. Make a deletion review request if you still wish to have your article back.
(Oh, and thanks for un-archiving my page. For that you get extra help from me. Next time if you see your topic in the page history, do not just edit the old version and save, copy the conversation out, edit the current version of the page, and then save. That will make your recipient happier. Thanks very much.) Pegasus «C¦ 02:31, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MFD Discussion deletions

Is there an AN discussion that I missed? These discussions on MFD keep getting deleted. I spoke to the prior admin and he restored them. These are not single editor pages, they are MFD discussions with multiple editors. Please tell me why this is happening (or restore them). We don't delete Deletion Discussions.--Doug.(talk contribs) 21:35, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
