Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid is a Pakistani security consultant and strategic defence analyst. He gained fame by hosting his own dedicated program on the News One channel, "BrassTacks with Zaid Hamid" named after BrassTacks, a Pakistani think tank, he himself created which is devoted to the study of regional and global political events and their implications for Pakistan's security and interests. Zaid Hamid is frequently invited to speak on national television networks as a defence and political analyst.

Early life

Early in his youth, when Zaid started his graduation, Afghanistan got challenged by the Soviet invasion and like many other Muslims from around the world, he volunteered to participate in the Afghan war, considered widely among Muslims as a Jihad. According to official sources on his website, it is stated that his active participation in the war spans six years. It was during this time where Zaid Hamid claims to have met and befriended Ahmad Shah Masoud.

Zaid Hamid eventually completed his degree in Electronics Engineering from NED University of Engineering & Technology in Karachi. He was also a student of world history, economics, Islamic philosophy, Quran and Sunnah.

Professional Background

After the war Zaid Hamid started his career as a security professional covering subjects like electronic security solutions, security systems design, and training of security personnel. His years in the war significantly contributed in sharpening his expertise of perceiving security threats and developing successful counter measures.

After a successful stint as area head of Security Alarms Systems Division of an eminent security company, he launched his own private consulting company in the late 1990s, called BrassTacks Security. The company specializes in corporate security systems design, security systems audit and security intelligence reporting.

He has served as area head of Security Alarms Systems Division of an eminent security company. He has authored dozens of published articles and handbooks on various defense and security related issues.

BrassTacks Think Tank

Zaid Hamid started an independent think tank named Brasstacks, whose operations are independent of his corporate website. This organization aims at creating awareness among the Pakistani people on issues of national security.

Political Views

Global Politics

The immediate fame that Zaid Hamid gained was because of his bold statements against the American, Indian, Israeli and Afghan governments working against Pakistan's interest. He is the first person appearing on the Pakistani media to claim that Baitullah Mehsud and his aides, including the suicide bombings within Pakistan are actually funded by the CIA and RAW to destabilize Pakistan. He believes the real target of the US is the Pakitan's nuclear facility which is a direct threat to Israel's sovereignty.

Zaid Hamid is also known for his ruthless analysis on Zionists and Hindus. In one of his famous Brasstack programs titled "Economic Terrorism", he blames the Jews of introducing the corrupt modern-day banking system and using unethical & unscrupulous means of controlling the world's economy through the fake power of paper currency.

Democracy

Zaid Hamid is also critical of the present government of Pakistan, declaring it as a 'CIA-sponsored' democracy. Infact he disapproves the concept of democracy in all its totality and claims it as unIslamic. He does not support secular liberal western democracy, nor he advocates fascists totalatarian secular dictatorships. His ideology of political power is based on the doctrine of Allama Iqbal, which supports the concept of spiritual democracy or benovelent dictatorship.

Social

Zaid Hamid is strongly inpsired by the works of Allama Iqbal and Wasif Ali Wasif. He frequently describes Jinnah and Iqbal as having a 'heart of a lion' and 'sight of an eagle', respectively.

Criticism

Recently Zaid Hamid was accused of running cult ideology of Yusuf Kazzab who claimed himself to be a porphet. Zaid Hamid refuted these allegations as:

His official statement is as under:

"Alhamdolillah, all my life has been spent keeping my self under tests and trials of fire, sword and blood for the sake of this deen and in love of Rasul Allah. My prayers, sacrifices, my life and death remains for Allah and His Prophet (SAWW). My izzat, life, parents, property, family and even good deeds are sacrificed on Rasul Allah. I am not mad to follow false prophets after Sayyadna Rasul Allah (SAWW).

Those with noor can see the rehma, baraka and khair from Allah and love of Rasul Allah in the life and mission of this humble faqeer. Hasbu nallah Naimul Wakeel, Naimul Maula wa naimun Naseer.

Curse of Allah, angels and momineen be on those liars who claim to be "prophets" after Sayyadna Khatim un Nabiyyeen Muhemmed Rasul Allah (saw). Also cursed and Rajeem are those who follow such liar "prophets" and also cursed are those who accuse innocent Muslims of following such false prophets. There will be no prophet after our beloved Sayyadna, Maulana, Muhemmed Rasul Allah, Rehmat ul lil Aalimeen (saw). May Allah keep us in His serene and blessed noor and Rehma in dunya and Akhira"
