Moni Aizik is the founder and chief instructor of Combat Survival, Commando Krav Maga, Elite Combat Fitness, Women’s CKM and CKM for Children.

Israel

Moni started training in Judo and Jujutsu at the age of 8, under Opa Schutte and in his late teens he joined the Israeli military, where due to his value as a national judo player, he was assigned as a physical fitness instructor.[citation needed]

After finishing his tour with the military, he would frequently travel to Japan to study with Judo and Sambo champions Isao Okano and Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki. In the meantime, his club in Israel, Maccabi Tel Aviv was quickly becoming recognized as one of the top training centers in the country, with hundreds of students training in Commando Krav Maga, Judo and Jujutsu[1]. Some of Moni’s Israeli students include Avi Nardia, a Kapap instructor,[2][citation needed] and Yael Arad, Israel’s first Olympic and World medalist in Judo. [3]

North America

Moving to North America in the 1980s, Moni was one of the first to introduce an Israeli fighting system to Canadians when he started teaching CKM at the Jewish Community Center in Toronto,[citation needed] two years later, Moni opened and established the 'Samurai Club'. Some of Moni’s students include former UFC Champion Carlos Newton, Japanese Shooto star Joel Gerson and UFC Fighter Mark Bocek[4].

In recent years, Moni has focused primarily on expanding his Reality-based self-defense Commando Krav Maga, spending almost all of his time conducting seminars and courses[5].

Controversial Claims Assessment

On October 28, 2008, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA: the self-regulatory organisation of the advertising industry in the United Kingdom) gave an assessment concerning Moni Aziks claims about his military duty.

The Central London School of Krav Maga challenged the claims in the advertising of Commando Krav Maga that Moni Azik was an "Ex-Israeli Special Forces Commando" and a "Counter Terrorism Expert". The British Code of Advertising Practice clause 3.1 states that advertisers must hold evidence before making claims.

Commando Krav Maga said that Moni Aziks military experience and counter terrorism expertise were considered classified by the Israeli military. Commando Krav Maga claimed that to make public the information would break the military code of conduct.

The ASA assessed that the ad breached CAP Code clauses 3.1 (Substantiation) and 7.1 (Truthfulness). It directed that ad must not appear in its current form and that Commando Krav Maga must not repeat the claims.[6]
