Great Neck High School image deletion

Hello -

I logged into Wikipedia for the first time in ages today, only to find an image I had posted, Great Neck High School, had been flagged as a copyright violation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Sweintraub.

I found this somewhat humorous, as the user, DueAmici (a banned sockpuppet), accused me of stealing the image from my own website. Had DueAmici performed even a cursory search, he would have found that I, Steve Weintraub, am also the writer of the website in question, jamesbetelle.com. I also never attributed the date '1923' to the image, but 1931 [1].

As for the image itself, it is my own scan from my private collection. It's a page from Architectural Forum, December, 1931 (the magazine folded in 1974). I'm not concerned so much for the image itself; if you deem it still violates copyright to post on Wikipedia, that is fine. I just don't like the notion of being accused of theft or plagarism. I'm hoping this violation notice, or at least the portions accusing me of falsifying information, may be retracted.

Thank you,

Sweintraub (talk) 00:32, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rolando Gomez, Second Nomination for AFD?

Why are there second nominations after passing a first AFD? You might want to see this, since you participated in the first AFD: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Rolando_Gomez_(2nd_nomination)#Rolando_Gomez Thanks! 72.191.15.133 (talk) 06:37, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Myst image

Hey there. I noticed you deleted Image:Nexus-Interface.jpg a while back. Since this image is covered under {{Attribution-Ubisoft}}, would you be able to restore this file so that it can be moved to Commons? Please let me know if you have any questions/comments! — OranL (talk) 16:50, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh well. Thanks for your time anyway! — OranL (talk) 20:42, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

restoration of Steve Diet Goedde?

Apparently, Steve Diet Goedde's page was deleted re G12; however, the person in question (Goedde) is under the impression that everything that was written on the page was not a copyvio, but in fact specifically sanctioned for Wikipedia. There's more discussion here, in Goedde's LiveJournal account. Would it be possible to undelete said page? (Admittedly, it's been over two months since it was speedy'ed...) --moof (talk) 13:25, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for block

Greetings ESkog - may I request your blocking capacity to re-block User talk:130.156.140.2. They/he/she have been at it again. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 17:10, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. I agree with the broad general principal of not blocking, but the trouble with school accounts is that too many of my colleagues just let the kids do whatever they like during Friday afternoon PC session, without having given any prior general guidelines, etiquette, etc.. Nor do they bother to monitor use/mis-use. One of the results of this is that many other colleagues are no longer using Wikipedia as a resource because of the results of vandalism - which range from dates having been changed to ... well, you know what is to be found. So if they find that they can no longer use the school account, albeit temporarily, maybe they'd be just that little bit more responsible. Wishful thinking? Regards, --Technopat (talk) 08:40, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't know, you should not delte it. Learn first.

To: Eskog

Eskog let me respond to you as polite I can be while relaying my position to you.

I know you a math teach of a high school, not a History, Language or English teacher. Before you taking your hand a decision to delete or assessment someone work, which is a free help to Wikipedia site. You send me this message “Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism.” First, the word “nonsense” means garbage, junk, and small talk. Second, the word “vandalism” means sabotage, harm, destruction. In another expression to you, the history of my city is garbage, useless items, and insignificant, my posting to you is a crime, waste to the site. For a educate men like you say you are, you should know that your words are out of contest, the correct history of my town which I add to Wikipedia in Spanish for you is nonsense and a act of vandalism, Spanish is language is not nonsense or a crime unless you are a racism person, let me know. I bet you, you will feel the same if someone make those comments about your city, town, root, you do not want a stranger from other country writing the history of you town, well I feel the same way, and every race should be suitable to write they own narration. Who know the true better? Whoever keeps writing about Boca de Yuma they are copying and pasting stuff, they find on Google, some of that stuff is my writing. I am here trying to help Wikipedia by expanding it the contest of Boca de Yuma. You should know I already send to my lawyer the message you send me because it wrongdoing, and a dishonor to Dominican people especially to Boca de Yuma community.

As you can see I am no playing game here, I need to speak to Wikipedia administration on referent to this issue. I want my city to be excellent represent around the world since Wikipedia is international website. I will be posting one more time this time in Spanish Wikipedia site and also en English Wikipedia site if you have any question feel free to get in touch with me at bocaino@yahoo.com or www.myspace.com/bocaino Thanks you in advance for you time.

Honestly,

Rhadamés

Chef McCall image deletion

Greetings!

I noticed that you deleted a photo from my own user page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Venster Can you please tell me what violation I committed? This page was not 'live' as I thought I could use my own user page as a testing area. Also, the photo in question has no copywrite, as I got it from the subject himself. Please tell me what the proper way to submit an image such as this would be.

THANKS!

You edit mad quick. Or are you just a lifelong fan of Sigurd Holter?67.102.1.85 (talk) 22:16, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding article Boselli Foundation-

The image you deleted was created by me and was not a (I9: Blatant copyright violation: from http://www.bosellifoundation.com/) If you had actually bothered to compare the two images, you would have seen obvious differences. If I had been able to copy the logo from the foundation's website, I would have used it and cited the source as such. After looking at your talk page, it seems you may be a bit too eager to delete prior to ascertaining all the facts. At the least, you should leave a comment on the talk page of the editor of the work you propose to delete. Mgreason (talk) 05:03, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response. I had read through the copyright sections, and didn't find any guidelines that covered this situation. Are you suggesting that a user-created image of a logo should still cite Non-free use media rationale referencing the organization's webpage? Mgreason (talk) 13:14, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Phillips Exeter Alumni

I don't know what is the issue with the alumnus- but all of the people that keep removing information are confused. I see from the list that there is some big issue surrounding this family- but you are 100% confused somewhere along in the process- and I don't know where the confusion stems from. He is listed in the alumnus record which you can check with the school- and the linked information is accurate- so the problem is with a few of you editors- it is not the problem of Exeter, or the accuracy of this list... so if you have some issue, with all due respect, that is your problem. Because from what I can see, someone got mixed up on accuracy way way back, and never got things straight. I will not remove a noted alumni from my school, when he is listed in the alumni sourcing which you can check at the school, and which is provided below and when the link provided is also presenting accurate infromation. It is Wikipedia that is wrong, confused etc.- not the link.Ex-men (talk) 17:49, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is a bunch of BS- you are wong and confused somewhere- and I am right and knowlegable, but if I don't give in to your ignorance- than I will be blocked- so what is the answer with that, never in the history of Wikipedia is any info ever to be added- that anyone who does will be blocked... Percy and myself are the only Exeter alumni here in this situation, who aer you but some confused person.Ex-men (talk) 18:11, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Avoid personal attacks and just keep the alumnus off the list for the time being...if he is notable, I bet better sourcing will show up in the future. For now, just keep him off, he can always be added back later- I'm bet the guy could care less if he is on this list or not. Case closed.Winhcelsea (talk) 02:45, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Since you're so intent on impersonating Winchelsea here (whose only involvement appears to be one poorly thought out revert!), I have no doubt that some new source for this hoax will appear soon. I can hardly wait. (ESkog)(Talk) 12:43, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tapestry Media

Why did you delete it? It seems like you're deleting random peoples stuff. Don't be an ass, dude! It annoys me that i can't find the information i'm looking for, just because some childish douchebag deleted it for no reason —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.58.124.140 (talk) 21:30, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SFPA Images

Good day to you,

I've noticed that you've marked all my SFPA images as breaching copyright, which is kinda weird as they were all tagged in accordance with a Wiki admin's instruction after I previously used an old copyright tag. All the images were supplied to me by colleagues at the SFPA and I posted them with the full backing of the SFPA (it does state on my user page that I work for them), so I can't see how I have breached copyright? Unfortunately, due to Christmas break, there is no one in the office to send an email to Wikipedia and I'd hate to see the images lost.

RFC on College Football logos

As the NFCC talk page was becoming difficult to navigate, I have moved the RFC to a subpage at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content/RFC on use of sports team logos. If you had the talkpage watchlisted, you may wish to add the subpage also. Best, Black Kite 11:31, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

UT Austin edits

Hi. I undid your edits in the ongoing quest to get the UT article to FA status. That includes keeping it up to date with other FA articles. Check out Texas A&M University & Michigan State University (both FA) and both have the same logos in their infoboxes. Personally, I agree the Longhorn logo and for that matter all athletics logos shouldn't be in the infobox, but the wordmark must stay and any attempt to remove those logos will be undid IMMEDIATELY.

So why does Michigan State University get to keep the "S" but UT can't keep Bevo? NThomas76207 (talk) 06:54, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Texas Tech & FAR

I have made a comment in regards to your nomination of the Texas Tech article for FAR. I suggest you go look at them. --TreyGeek (talk) 14:53, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Corrupt practices on Barbaro page

No editor is suppose to use the name of living people in the way you are doing. You are naming a hoax after a living person, who is real, which is unfair to that innocent person. There is no hoax with that living person, nor am I adding any info about that living person- you are confused. Your so called "hoax" started from Theta Nu Epsilon when someone said that that Barbaro member was the head of a competeing alpha chapter. The Wesleyean alpha chapter now is an illegitimate upstart- so they are the ones who started all of this hoax nonsense. Go check the Theta Nu Epsilon home page, they went so far as to even change the skull and keys bange from the original ONE one to a fake one so they could not get in trouble for being illegitimate TNE. Go check their chapter list of them fueling nonsnse of a hoax with the purdue chapter within their own website- they sarted it because they are afraid about illegitimacy, and someone said VB was a member or head of a competeling chapter. But you and all of your confused administariots are destroying papge after page of valid sourced material from truly impotant historical pages, you are blocking good-faith editors, and you are unjustly flashing the innocent name of a person around- when such a Barbaro member is innocent. I am not fueling any hoax, I am correcting the wording of an nnocent person's name, and correcting legitimately sourced information- but you keep blocking every good faith editor, and you and others never took the time to learn what the real issues were surrounding you so called "hoax", there is no hoax- all you are doing is supporting the phoney agenda of the TNE alpha upstart- why don't you get a handle on what you are doing, and why don't you leave the innocent name of a valid family member alone- you are picking on someone who is innocent-I was just being sensitive to that individuasl name being used in the way you are doing, epsecially since all of this nonsense talk is spilling all over the internet when you write someones name out like that, it shows up in search engines, that it is not fair to VB- and I am not, nor have I ever added info about him- unless it was validly sourced. So your behavior is not fair or just, not to me, not to other editors, and certainly not to VB whose name is being dragged around like this- if you want to be unreasonable than that is your problem, but at least take off the person's formal name from having a hoax named after him-you would not want some one to do that to you- just go back in and put the initials VB in place of his name- at least, then, his name won't be unfairly dragged all over the internet- and there are rights for what is being said about living people on wikipedia- it is the correct and fair thing to do.13:34, 27 December 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.26.42.156 (talk)

Will you at least do the guy the courtesey of just putting initials VB instead of his name- that is the least wikipedia can do63.26.131.249 (talk) 15:28, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
