Nonsense

[edit]

That wasn't nonsense, it was public information, like those old telly ads about the spirit of dark and lonely water.

And how did you jump on it so fast, have you got SUPERPOWERS?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.236.12.146 (talkcontribs) 16:26, 4 April 2008

Why exactly did you revert my previous comment please? I'm not saying this goes for you, but sometimes I think the power goes to admin's heads a bit sometimes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.69.206.164 (talk) 16:37, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Should recommend 'Demographics of the U.S.' be protected?

[edit]

Both of us have reverted vandalism there. Should it be protected for a while? 71.193.2.115 (talk) 12:08, 15 April 2008 (UTC) OK. Pick a number of vandalisms to have a page protected. Pumpkin was protected only after 7 vandalisms. Demographics has had at least that many, at last time I checked. Im updating some pages that lack refrences right now. Yours. Seventy-One. 71.193.2.115 (talk) 01:43, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We have to stop meeting like this. Pumpkin was protected a way back near halloween. Demographics was vandalized more than the whole page replacements. ( 22 times by a range of IPs .. Look carefully in the history ) It has been hit with tiny nibbles changes here and there... Ill sit on the sidelines and watch, while I patch up....Microdrive.... 71.193.2.115 (talk) 09:06, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hypocrisy

[edit]

Hello ESkog:

Can you please tell me what happened to this article and its history? Was it simply a matter of someone leaving an edit summary so inappropriate that it had to be removed?

I guess I don't need to know, but I'm very curious. I was in the midst of editing , went back to look at something in the history, and found there was none.

Thanks, Wanderer57 (talk) 20:01, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted image from 2000 AD (film)

[edit]

Kindly warn contributors in future before deleting images of this nature, for jusitifications to keep them could have been easily added.--Huaiwei (talk) 10:22, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Was mildly irritated as I had to look for the image again, but I am glad the issue has been resolved amicably.--Huaiwei (talk) 14:08, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, could you provide a disruptive edit summary, I didn't see any at first glance that required blocking (unless it's in deleted contribs, which I can't see on this account). Kwsn-pub 14:33, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jennifer Santiago picture

[edit]

Re: User talk:Santiagoesq and Image:Jennifersantiagogenesis.jpg - the guy is the copyright holder and he has clearly been trying rather hard to get the picture on Wikipedia. Rather than deleting his picture 14 times for lack of a license, it would have been a lot better for everyone concerned if someone had simply dropped a nice note on his talk page asking him to agree to a license and tag the picture, rather than giving him automated deletion warnings.

He's now submitted it to through the OTRS photo submission queue I set up, and I've uploaded and properly tagged the image. Raul654 (talk) 22:46, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nardcore Picture

[edit]

It's from the person pictured displaying the Nardcore Symbol he gave me from his personal collection. The logo doesn't have a copyright because it was from something doodled in a notebook over 20 years ago. I'm going to undo your change and if I chose the wrong method please tell me how to license and tag the photo. The article needs it.Maluka (talk) 18:32, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted Education Section

[edit]

My edits were fact. If you wish to travel to Ashland, Kentucky to investigate this, go ahead. The teacher was intoxicated on the job, all of the staff knew it. Only the principal had any power to fire her, but ignored it. He was aware of her slacking and intoxication, because he gave her a second chance, and it's entirely true that most parents leaving the school will never return. I'm stating only what I've witnessed, if you can provide me with any amount of non-neutral opinion in my post, I will end this right now, but being that this is wikipedia, and most moderators are bots, no details are ever given on a reversion.

75.117.222.196 (talk) 21:00, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

alright, thanks for clearing that up. I did figure that someone planning on moving into the district of the Ashland Independent Schools, may want to know that. Well, they should chose another school system. But, if it's unfit, that's fine. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FrostxByte (talkcontribs) 15:47, 10 May 2008

Remember the Rotary !

[edit]

He is there now ! I was considering Wikipedia:Third opinion, but let's be honnest, this guy has nothing to do on WP, Wikipedia:Third opinion would be a loss of time for everybody, including the poor fellow who will give a third opinion. Any piece of advice? Should I go directly to AN/I ? On WP:fr it would settled on AN/I in a matter of minutes, but I know WP:en is a bit more formalist, so I prefer to ask, and who knows, maybe a third opinion will do some good (although one would doubt of it by reading the talk page of Rotary International.

My other reason for asking is that I do not know how seasoned the people from Wikipedia:Third opinion are. On WP:fr, we have something similar but with sometimes mixed results because even a very young contributor may register as a fireman. Bradipus (talk) 10:13, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bradipus, instead of lobbying administrators, you should better come to talk to Pinochet"s page and explaining why you want to wash Pinochet's membership to the Rotary club.
84.102.229.247 (talk) 10:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, it has been settled...for now. Bradipus (talk) 16:37, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The page is semi-protected now. The IP appears to be POV-pushing and won't answer the question of why Rotary membership is important to the article. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 16:45, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain how you came to the conclusion that this image was a "blatant copyright violation"? Whose copyright? GMT is open source software [1][2]. The ETOPO5 dataset is in the public domain [3]. If you have some obscure argument how this still may be a copyright violation, pray present it at IfD, don't just delete it on a whim. I would ask you to undelete the image now, and then raise your concerns through the proper channels. dab (𒁳) 07:48, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ok, thanks. I was just slightly irritated that by the time I saw the warning message on my talkpage, the image was already gone. No harm done. cheers, --dab (𒁳) 09:44, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS templates

[edit]

Hi, ESkog - I just transferred Image:Justin Meldal-Johnsen.jpg (which you placed the OTRS ticket for) to the Commons. I was wondering, for image pages, if you would mind using {{PermissionOTRS}} instead of {{ConfirmationImageOTRS}}, as the latter does not transfer correctly to Commons and needs hand-tweaking. I'm not sure why we have the duplicate templates, anyway, but {{PermissionOTRS}} seems to transfer with no issues. Thanks! Kelly hi! 02:56, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would think that it would be more prudent to protect the article without the disputed information. As it is now, you protected the article shortly after the information was re-added, with the majority of the editors involved opposed to the current edit.Asher196 (talk) 22:32, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The edit contains reliable source as a citation. It needs not be changed. Polling is not a substitute for discussion WP:POLLS. Docku (talk) 23:00, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Per m:The Wrong Version, I don't intend to edit the contents of the protected page. Just hash it out on Talk please. (ESkog)(Talk) 00:22, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please remove the content from the page per WP:BLP There has been no compelling reason for inclusion provided by user Docku, and his reinsertion during discussion shows a serious lack of good faith. Arzel (talk) 14:52, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion is still going on. Docku (talk) 14:57, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Since the information is well-sourced, BLP wouldn't seem to apply (it specifies unsourced negative information about living persons). The dispute about the level of sourcing necessary may be a good debate to have, but it's not an emergency removal sort of case. (ESkog)(Talk) 17:29, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The sole main source is an editorial from a magazine that represents itself as "left/liberal" written by the son of Sidney Blumenthal which is not a credible sole source for controversial material in an article about a conservative. The other sources are blogs. Without finding additional third party sources this would be like using a National Review editorial for a sole source of contentious material in the Al Franken article. The editorial is not giving the writers opinion but is repeating what they heard from another person. The editorial is being used in the article to represent facts. No other sources can be found for this controversial material--PTR (talk) 18:24, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please note that I am not taking a position on whether the content should ultimately be included, but only on the much more limited question of whether its temporary inclusion runs afoul of our BLP policy. I believe it does not pose a problem on that front. (ESkog)(Talk) 19:29, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I actually didn't have a problem with your protecting the article. I'd much rather that than a edit war but one of the editors in the conflict was pointing to your comment about the information being "well sourced" above as a comment in the RFC. So I thought I'd get my argument in. --PTR (talk) 19:34, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mushkin Images

[edit]

Hi, may I know why were the images from Mushkin page deleted?
FYI, I've got permission from Mushkin to use these images associated with their products.
Kindly advise if I didnt state the rights to use these images correctly. Appreciate your guide on this.

Thanks. (talk) 10:39, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain why you removed the photos on Hot Cell

[edit]

Hi ESkog,

Please could you let me know why the photos were removed on the Hot Cell page - these are fully authorised photos and do not infrige upon any wikipedia rules that I am aware of.

Thanks,

John.

Ironholds' tone

I do not appreciate the tone that Ironholds used when attempting to squash a new article I am working on. Specifically he called me a vandal and reverted a lot of my work on this edit:

Cannabis Culture & Cost

[edit]

Eleven years ago The Ottawa Citizen published four consecutive Editorials in four days calling for the legalization of Cannabis. Calling the Editor to commend him for such bold action, it was suggested an article be submitted for payment if published on the Op-Ed page. On submission, the Editor said, "Now we're going to have to shit or get of the pot."

It was published as a Letter To The Editor with the heart and guts edited out so that no reader would have a clear perspective or understanding of the issue. If you're interested, you can read the article in the discussion here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Joseph_Cormier and maybe comment on the images in the article.
