Zorro is an adaptation to television series from a novel written by Johnston McCulley, The Curse of Capistrano, produced by GMA Network. The title role will be played by Richard Gutierrez with Rhian Ramos as his leading lady. The series has started last March 23, 2009.[1]

Production

GMA bought the rights to adapt the Mexican legendary fencer, Zorro for Philippine television.

In preparation for Zorro, Richard Gutierrez and the whole cast started training for fencing and horse riding, which most of the previous characters of films and television shows had done. They also had Spanish lessons because the show's set is of the year 1800's in which Philippines was colonized by the Spaniards.

Then, Sukarno will be doing an acting workshop with Director Peque Gallaga to prepare for the setting during the 1900s. Other preparations include studying how the Filipinos were back then, their way of living, and what the beliefs were back in the 1900s. They are going invite a historian to brief the whole team on what actually happened at that point in Philippine history .[2]

The setting called Angeles (one of cities in Pampanga) takes place in Bataan.
