Odex One Piece Dub
Yes! I found a website dedicated to this dub! It's great if you want to learn about it. It has cast lists, interviews, clips, and even pics of the video (or VCD) box sets. Here's a link! http://www.freewebs.com/singaporeanonepiece/index.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.206.228.68 (talk) 02:51, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Thanks for the reply. Though I was hoping you had found another source of information than that website, because it does not meet Wikipedia's standards for reliable sources. You don't, by any chance, own any of Odex releases? -- Goodraise (talk) 03:09, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- Nope. Sorry I don't own any of the VCDs released by Odex. All I have seen of that dub is a few clips (including others besides those posted on that website). But if they ever release them to DVD here in the states, I would most likely buy them. But for now, the Funi dub is fine w/me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.102.78.225 (talk) 20:15, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'm in search of episodes of this dub. Do you know how to find them? I'm also trying to find out if Funimation is going to dub more One Piece movies.I thought it was kind of weird that they started with movie eight, though they did do a good job (I felt that Catlin Glass' version of the ending theme on the Blu-Ray was even better than the Japanese version)! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.102.102.244 (talk) 02:41, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Here they are selling the first VCD. For the remaining seven(?), you'll have to search eBay and the likes I fear. Good luck though. (In case you do buy it, tell me. :) -- Goodraise (talk) 04:51, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll look into it as soon as I get my hands on a VCD player and save up my money (I'm only in my mid-teens at the moment). You don't happen to know where to watch this online do you? P.S. You will love this song from the Funimation dub of One Piece movie 8: (Removed link to copyright violation. -- Goodraise (talk) 12:48, 16 April 2009 (UTC)) Please tell me what you think of it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.150.12.207 (talk) 03:42, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Sorry the link doesn't work (I'm bad at typing in web addresses) just go to youtube and search for "One Piece movie 8 ending english" I apologize fo any trouble I may have caused you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.150.12.207 (talk) 03:59, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, the English version of "Compass" is good. I can understand that some like it better than the original. However, please do not post links to copyright violations on my talk page (or anywhere else on Wikipedia). As for a VCD player, don't waste your money. Practically every DVD player can play VCDs as well. -- Goodraise (talk) 12:48, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'm glad you like the song. The singer is Catlin Glass, who is the voice of Vivi in the Funimation dub. You can hear the song exclusively on the Blu-Ray version of the movie. And I apologize for the link. I won't be posting links to copyright violations on Wikipedia anymore. But I have a question regarding the fact that VCD Players can play on DVD players. Do you know if they can play in a Region 1 DVD player (Singapore would probably use Region 2)? And what exactly is the difference between a VCD and a DVD? And do you know if Funimation will ever dub more One Piece movies, and did Odex ever dub any? Ciao--99.207.164.153 (talk) 18:26, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Let me point you to the articles on Video CD and DVD for the first few questions. AFAIK, Funimation has not announced any more movies at this time and Odex only dubbed episodes. -- Goodraise (talk) 18:55, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! I forgot about checking Wikipedia. These pages helped me on that note. I'm also wondering why Odex only dubbed the series. Didn't Toei give them the movies too? And why did they stop production after only 2 seasons? I'm also confused as why Funi started with movie 8 and not the first. It's a shame that Funi has yet to announce any more movies. I don't think Funimation is doing as many movies as they used to because they release a lot of them into theaters in limited release like what they did w/One Piece movie 8 and the Fullmetal Alkamist movie. And do you know if that VCD is being sold in US currency? Thanks again!--99.207.164.153 (talk) 22:41, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- The store probably uses Singapore dollar. -- Goodraise (talk) 23:16, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

- Yeah, but if I decide to buy it, how would I pay? I can't pay with Singaporean money if I live in the US. And do you know where I could watch this dub online?--99.207.164.153 (talk) 03:16, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- They won't expect Singaporean dollars if they deliver into the US. As for watching, I'm unaware of Odex releasing One Piece online. -- Goodraise (talk) 09:24, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

- Okay that's good. I just hope if anyone who owns the series will perhaps post them on youtube. How much of this dub have you seen anyway?--99.206.71.177 (talk) 17:09, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I haven't seen a single episode. -- Goodraise (talk) 17:22, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- If you go to that website that I mentioned earlier, you can see a few clips. The best one is the scene where they meet Nico Robin. Perfect casting for her. These clips show off a lot of the character voices. I find it funny that Luffy is played by a guy, and that several names are mispronounced (like Luffy and Sanji). It's not as good as Funimation, but it's ten times better than 4kids.--99.206.71.177 (talk) 18:12, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I added voice actor information for a few more characters regarding the Odex dub in case you noticed. I continued to use that website as a reference, but I think it's reliable because the person(s) who run the site seem to know their stuff. Have you checked out any of the clips? If so, what did you think of them?--99.206.71.177 (talk) 21:52, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I have no intention of watching those clips or the Odex dub. I'm only interested in writing articles. As for the site, it does not meet Wikipedia's guideline for reliable sources. That is why I'm trying to find someone who has Odex' VCDs. Without such an editor, all the information you added will eventually be removed again, because we can't be sure it's accurate. -- Goodraise (talk) 22:10, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I'm sorry. I thought you were just a fan of One Piece who was curious about the Odex dub like I am. I would buy that box set, but to ship that from Singapore to the U.S. would be worth it's weight in gold. I am going to have to save my money (being that I'm only fourteen at the moment, that might take a while). Are you by chance a fan of the One Piece? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.206.71.177 (talk) 22:59, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I am, but I really don't see how that matters. Look, there's countless One Piece fansites out there, full of fans who want to chat. I'm really only here to write articles. -- Goodraise (talk) 23:08, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the idea! Though I wish I had friends who cared for what I have to say, that should suit me just fine. Good luck on finding someone who has the VCDs. Maybe I will buy the one you found. How much money do you think I would have to pay in shipping?(Sorry if I'm bothering you with questions)--99.206.71.177 (talk) 23:34, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Man this sounds complicated!!! I wonder how many they have in stock. I checked ebay and couldn't find any. I wish Odex would sell releases online. Thanks. You have been a big help for me!--68.242.178.221 (talk) 03:32, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
can you check the peer review thing, i've left messages. Dumbledore —Preceding undated comment added 19:33, 15 April 2009 (UTC).
- I have it watchlisted. No need to notify me. -- Goodraise (talk) 19:38, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Would you still like the FLC nomination to be withdrawn and archived, or would you prefer it to be kept open? If the latter, just strike your comment there so no one else does it by accident. Regards, Matthewedwards : Chat 02:50, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- I believe the editor you want to ask this is the actual nominator, DragonZero (talk · contribs). -- Goodraise (talk) 02:58, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oops! Thanks, Matthewedwards : Chat 03:18, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I'll use this same topic to ask for help. I think I finished edits that you have listed, besides the size of the summaries, and would appreciate more tips. Also I pretty sure aga-search.com is reliable, but can you check for me. Thank you. DragonZero (talk) 00:57, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- I really can't tell. Try asking at WT:ANIME. -- Goodraise (talk) 01:05, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
"that does not belong into the references section"
Why not fix it, then, rather than removing it? --Raijinili (talk) 14:52, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- For the record: Raijinili is referring to this edit. I didn't say it belonged anywhere else in that article. I just meant to say that if it belonged anywhere, then that place would not be in the references section, because it isn't a reference. Thus, I did fix it, by removing it. Regards, -- Goodraise (talk) 16:28, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Wordplay. I didn't say anything about you talking about the right place. I asked you why you didn't fix it, without referring to a specific instance where you specified a location. "Fix", in my comment, meant "put it in the right place", which I'm sure you knew, and thus I'm sure you intentionally tried to assert superiority of wit by not answering the question. By twisting the meaning by a technicality which wasn't there to begin with, you avoided a direct answer to my question. You haven't stated a reason for not moving the template to a different location in the article, nor have you stated, directly, that the template did not belong.
- Answer this, a simple question, with no tricks of manner, language, or distraction: Does it belong in the article? --Raijinili (talk) 17:31, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I do not know.
Look, I answer questions directly if I can. Your first question was based on the opinion that I did not fix it, which is an opinion that I do not share. Removing the template completely (or if you will, placing it outside the article) seemed to be the way to go. Your current question is, again, one that I cannot answer directly, this time, because I do not have the answer. If I knew that it belonged into a certain place in that article, I would have moved it there. Such a place was not obvious to me. - What appeared to you as wordplay was merely my clumsy attempt at answering your question as directly as I could. I assure you that I had not intended to avoid a direct answer or to assert superiority. I apologize for any amount of mental stress my bad English may have caused you. (Mind you that English is not my native language and that preposition stranding does not occur in my native language. In fact, this is the first time that I've heard of it.) Sincerely, -- Goodraise (talk) 18:27, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I do not know.
- I honestly don't know that it belongs either. User:Collectonian removed a portal link and put a deletion template on it for being a duplicate, and that doesn't exactly mean it didn't belong, so I reverted the removal with the right link.
- However, I can't see it doing more harm than good (and you didn't seem to either), so I sided on the side of more content. --Raijinili (talk) 20:50, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Personally, I think it is sufficient that the portal is linked from every series article in the scope of WP:ANIME (including Dragon Ball), but having an opinion is not "knowing that it doesn't belong". -- Goodraise (talk) 21:34, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- The portal templates belong in the "see also" section, though there seems to be no policy for what to do without a "see also" section, and it doesn't seem to be sensible to exclude it for what seemed to be the sole reason: that there wasn't a "see also" section. --Raijinili (talk) 20:50, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- You're right, WP:ALSO doesn't say what to do if there is no see also section. -- Goodraise (talk) 21:34, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I would prefer an "I don't know" when it's appropriate to an avoidance of the question, though. --Raijinili (talk) 20:50, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- IMHO, saying "I don't know" is an avoidance. What I did was answering as directly as possible. I will continue to do so. -- Goodraise (talk) 21:34, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- The preposition wikilinking was not serious. It had nothing to do with your comments. I didn't even notice if you used stranded prepositions.
- I hope this is the resolution. --Raijinili (talk) 20:50, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- You are the one who came to me with a question. How would I know if it has been answered to your satisfaction? In case it has, it was a pleasure to converse with you. :) -- Goodraise (talk) 21:34, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
