Serious deletion request
My friend has recieved harrassment from people who can still access her talk page, specifically with relation to her views on amateur theatre. Some fanatics have deduced her identity from information available on this page 1 We request it be deleted immediantly as her right to vanish and to not have her privacy violated. (129.96.113.36 (talk) 01:24, 9 April 2009 (UTC)) Thank you! (129.96.113.32 (talk) 05:27, 9 April 2009 (UTC))

Are you serious?! This person has numerous warnings and you dismiss this as nothing. This user will come back and cause more havoc....time to block now rather than later. I am sooo tired of admins who don't take the vandalism on Wikipedia seriously. - NeutralHomer • Talk • March 21, 2009 @ 08:43

Your change to my edits
Thank you Kimchi - I hugely respect Wikipedia and appreciate the guidance - I have begun writing an article that is more appropriate to Wikipedia.Wolrab (talk) 11:51, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Kimchi - would you mind please explaining why you deleted my user page. I do not understand. I understand clearly that Wikipedia is not here for promotional purposes, but the project is the first of its kind in the world, it features several major, major artists around the world, and is going to be promoted on international TV and Radio over the next couple of months. I would think this makes it Notable.
The concept of Global One is unfortunately slighly complex, and I wanted to create a factual Wikipedia page, outlining precisely what the project is - to clear up any misunderstandings.
The project has already been mentioned on Wikipedia, and if you look at Despina Vandi's Wikipedia page, it refers to the project incorrectly - she is NOT involved with the project. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Despina_Vandi
All the references I put up were externally validatable - the artists' own official websites, as well as published sources: http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/content_display/industry/e3i30ada968e3837255657d406c035b5487 http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?storyCode=1035868§ioncode=1
I read the Wikipedia Policies and Guidelines carefully, and as far as I can see, I was offering a neutral point of view, the project is notable, and the article was/is verifiable.
I would (very, very respectfully) refer you to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Please_do_not_bite_the_newcomers
I am in need of assistance here, and am trying to keep open communication with Admins - please can we find a solution? I am eager to learn. Wolrab (talk) 11:25, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
Kimchi - thank you for the explanation, I appreciate it.

Expresso is one of Portugal's leading national newspapers, with a circulation of 120,000 copies per week. [1] Billboard is read in more than 100 countries around the world (and Billboard.com attracts more than 4 million unique visitors each month).[2] Music Week has a circulation of 6,771, with a pass-on readership of 20,313 per week. [3] AOL has 6 million subscribers [4].
The project is clearly well in the public domain.
Currently there are a number of artists claiming (incorrectly) to be involved with the project, and trying to get publicity off the back of it - and in Despina Vandi's case, she's actually using Wikipedia as a platform to claim this untruth. Isn't that more of a conflict of interest for Wikipedia, and isn't it better to set the record straight with a factual article - otherwise, where is the source of truth?
I merely wish to put up a couple of paragraphs (the ones I'd composed) saying what the project is, and which artists are involved. I don't want an all-singing, all-dancing publicity piece because of course it would be (rightfully) deleted.
Please would you re-instate the piece. Wolrab (talk) 18:23, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
Kimchi,
You and I are both in agreement that the album is not yet notable, since although it will be released in mid-July, this has not yet received public confirmation. I did not wish to include the album for this very reason - and also because then I would clearly be (pre)promoting it, and this has no place on Wikipedia. The album is not appropriate for inclusion in my article (it was not included), and it is irrelevant to Wikipedia.
On the other hand, the PROJECT (as an ensemble of platinum-selling artists, each famous on a national scale their own country) is clearly already in the public domain and notable. I refer you also to the Wikipedia Guidelines for Music - which criteria it needs to fulfil on only one count, though in fact it meets the criteria on at least TWO, and possibly more:
FIRST CRITERIA (FULFILLED) "A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) is notable if it meets any ONE of the following criteria:
1. It has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician or ensemble itself and reliable.[note 1] * This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media..." The project has been covered in the mainstream national press in not just one but TWO European countries."
Global One was covered today in a double-page spread (pages 36-37) in one of the UK's leading national newspapers the Daily Record http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/entertainment/showbiz-news/celebrity-interviews/2009/04/03/i-m-having-my-eggs-frozen-for-when-mr-right-comes-along-reveals-liz-mclarnon-86908-21249669/ and the article features Global One artist Liz McClarnon, a leading UK recording artist and television personality easily of international status.
The project has now been picked up objectively by the mainstream national press in not one but TWO separate European countries (in addition the project had previously also received major coverage in the two major international trade press publications of the music industry at the project's inception).
Although releases are irrelevant at this stage as they would technically constitute promotion, and I did not wish to include the first single of the album ('Lately'), its release date has now been confirmed in the UK national press (Daily Record) as 'next month' (Daily Record), and its official (correct) release date of 18 May is confirmed on Liz McClarnon's official website: http://lizmcclarnon.com/site/index.php?pid=home - 'Lately' is also covered here on Wikipedia, on Liz McClarnon's page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liz_mcclarnon (N.B. I only just noticed this and, as you will be able to verify, that is not my Wikipedia contribution - it may be one of her fans, or possibly her management).
SECOND CRITERIA (FULFILLED) "A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) is notable if it meets any ONE of the following criteria: 6. Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable"
(1) Liz McClarnon - 8 million albums and singles sold; (2) Daniela Mercury [one of the best known Brazilian female singers, selling over 8 million albums in her home country and almost 12 million albums worldwide. She is also the Brazilian female performer with most #1 hits in her country, with 14]; (3) Sonu Niigaam, a huge star in India (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonu_Nigam); (4) Wei Wei, 20 years of stardom in China and 200 million records sold [5] - and so on, and so forth.
Global One (though not its products) actually exceeds the criteria required for inclusion on Wikipedia. It is already being incorrectly covered in two separate places on Wikipedia.
Please reinstate my article, which only served to confirm facts that were previously already in the public domain - which facts have now become the subject of confirmed, objective international press coverage.
Please involve a number of further Admins, to ensure Wikipedia objectivity, as you see fit. Wolrab (talk) 02:24, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Kimchi,
I was not using my User Page to promote the project. In order to do that I would need to link people to my User Page as a source of information - which I was not doing.
What I WAS doing was using my User Page to build an appropriate article before publishing, then trying to find out how to post the article - in keeping with Wikipedia advice and guidelines. You have not even let an article be published before deleting it.
I shall be certainly be seeking third-party resolution. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.145.195 (talk) 12:15, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Kimchi,
I shall once again refer you to Wikipedia's policies, which you keep putting on my talk page, but to which you are very clearly not adhering:
"Advertisements masquerading as articles
See also: Wikipedia:NOTADVERTISING#ADVERTISING.
Articles considered advertisements include those that are solicitations for a business, product or service, or are public relations pieces designed to promote a company or individual. Wikispam articles are usually noted for sales-oriented language and external links to a commercial website. However, a differentiation should be made between spam articles and legitimate articles about commercial entities.
Blatant examples of advertising masquerading as articles can be speedily deleted by tagging the articles with db-spam
. Other advertisements posted on Wikipedia can be dealt with by either proposed deletion or listing them on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. On some occasions, the content can be removed temporarily on the basis of a suspected copyright violation, since the text is often copied from another website and posted anonymously.
When an article on an otherwise encyclopedic topic has the tone of an advertisement, the article can often be salvaged by rewriting it in a neutral point of view. Elements of articles about products or services with brand names can also be combined under a common topic or category to facilitate unbiased and collaborative information by including information about the competition and about different alternatives."
1. I was NOT using sales-oriented language, and was not linking to the company website - I was deliberately linking only to external, objective third-party published articles which confirmed the facts, and not to any site which promoted any form of product as this would clearly be inappropriate. (I refer you here: "a differentiation should be made between spam articles and legitimate articles about commercial entities.")
2. You have made zero effort to mediate, guide, or to find a possible solution here, even if you thought the article was suspect: "When an article on an otherwise encyclopedic topic has the tone of an advertisement, the article can often be salvaged by rewriting it in a neutral point of view."
My article is very, very clearly within Wikipedia guidelines, and I have provided ample objective evidence above to back this up.
Please re-instate the article.
If you consider the article suspect, you may simply place a watch on it - which you are permitted to do under Wikipedia guidelines. Please follow them. Wolrab (talk) 14:07, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
- I think you were a bit too hasty to delete. Userspace is exactly the place we encourage people to put works in progress before they meet the criteria to be in the main articlespace. I suggest you use WP:MFD to get a consensus on how someone should get to develop an article before it is considered spam from the wider community. - Mgm|(talk) 10:57, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

En bloc sale of private property in Singapore
Dear Kimchi: I am a Wiki newbie and a NON-technie. I just converted the image file from the old newspaper article into a jpeg file and the "source" is inside the image. I don't know how to "doctor" a jpeg image file and I don't think it's right for me to remove the source. In any case, for another image of the Statistical Chart for New Neighbours, I tried my hand at the non-free usage template. Is it supposed to be displayed in the Wiki page? If not, how do I embed the template pls? Can you help me pls?

- Hi Kimchi! I've left a message at my talk page, seeking your assistance for creating "sections" in my Wiki page. Could you help me again pls? Many thanks.

- It's me again, Kimchi! I have stuck a message at my talk page. By putting my messages at MY talk page (as opposed to YOUR talk page), do you get alerted? Because I'm unsure, I do it in two places just to make sure that you know of my message postings. Sorry for my repetition - pls let me know so that I won't repeat in future. Many thanks. :)

Denis Wood Wiki
I note you've edited the Denis Wood bio' that I changed. There were serious inaccuracies and violations of the Wiki profile for work on living American authors.
Most importantly, the suggestion that the person with whom Wood had relations had a known sexual history is potentially libelous. This was not a fact in trial and not widely reported. Because his identity is well known he might well claim the Wiki, as it stands, demeans him unfairly and incorrectly under libel statute.
Nor is the time of the relationship between this person and Wood correct. The sexual relationship occurred over a period of under 2 years, again according to legal records and Wood's admission, not the seven years implied in this wiki.
Most importantly, to me, is the fact that biographies of living American authors are supposed to focus on their writing and work, not their personal lives. The Wiki I have replaced pays little attention to that work. It's egregious in its mistakes and its focus is beyond the limits of the Wiki protocols for biographies.
For these reasons I have replaced the biography that, in turn, replaced an earlier biography that I had discussed on my page. I've signed my changes so all can see the reasons.
Please advise. --Tomkoch (talk) 17:54, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- I do not recall ever editing this article. Perhaps you are looking for the wrong person.
- I do have advice though: please format your paragraphs properly. Add a blank line, not a space, before each paragraph. Kimchi.sg (talk) 02:05, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
SINPariah's violation of NPA
Please tell me you don't believe the garbage that this user has spewed about me. . I understand that there are times what I have been a little too heavy-handed in my dealings of this user, and for that, I do apologize. However, please see this from my viewpoint.
Throughout the last two years, I have been locked in a constant battle with a Singaporean vandal, who has used more than 30 IPs and 60 sockpuppet accounts to vandalize Wikipedia. In addition, there have been at least two cases where a Singaporean editor has created trouble, through a complete lack of understanding of the rules, and their utter refusal to understand them, and reform themselves.
With that said, I only had one way to deal with them: strike hard, strike often, and hope the unrepentant troublemakers will leave Wikipedia at peace.
If I am doing this wrong, please let me know. Thank you. ArbiteroftruthPlead Your Case 22:52, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Deprodding of :{}
I have removed the
tag from :{}, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add proposed deletion
back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!. i don't understand why you proposed my user page for deletion. my user page is legitimate. my page is a biography of a former player. He is not a current player nor a famous player and there has not been any article written on him yet. simply looking him up in google does not prove that he is not legitimate. To verify his info i have listed his clubs such as Africa Sports at 2250862443 and others. If you want verification you would have to contact these clubs directly and check thier former player roaster.
Thank you
