Jakobus Johannes Wiese, better known as Kobus Wiese, born 16 May 1964 in Paarl (South Africa), is a former South African rugby union player who played for the South Africa national rugby union team between 1993 and 1996.
He played as lock (1,98 m and 119 kg).
He played in the South African provincial Currie Cup for the Golden Lions (former team of the Transvaal).
He won the 1995 Rugby World Cup. He received a three match for punching and knocking out Derwyn Jones of Wales in the 40-11 win in 1995. Jones was a major line out threat and was knocked cold by a punch from behind in the forth minute of the match. Kobus scored a try in a match but received a three match ban, which suggests strongly that ahd the officials seen it, he would be been red carded in a home test.
He is now owner of a chain of cafés and CEO of a coffee-roasting factory in Johannesburg, as well as a consultant and TV presenter.
