Overview
Roblox is a free virtual MMOG building game designed for kids[1]. The game is made up of building bricks of various shapes and sized.. Unlike other games Roblox has no pre-defined goals and players are allowed to build anything such as houses, churches, or cities, and code with an easier to use version of Lua. ROBLOX has become part of the TrustE program[2]. Roblox is a learning tool as well as an online game. They achieve this in the use of Lua 5.1 used throughout the game.[3].
Customization
Places
Players in Roblox have the ability to construct up to ten worlds out of an unlimited supply of virtual building blocks[4]. These blocks can be customized to each players liking. Players can earn in-game currency from other users visiting their online world.
Avatars
Players in Roblox are given a virtual avatar that they can customize with new hats, heads, clothes and faces. All of which are available to purchase with Roblox's virtual currency.
Economy
Ways To Earn
Roblox has developed their own virtual economy. Players in Roblox can earn two currencies, Tickets or Robux. Users are awarded these by getting people to visit their virtual places, selling their user made clothes, or by trading their money on Roblox's version of the stock market. Players are also given a login bonus of 10 Tickets or 15 Robux, depending on if they are are paying for Roblox's premium membership service known as Builder's Club.
The Catalog
Roblox has things from head shapes to shirts to models! These all belong in the catalog.
Heads
Of course, many people WOULD NOT want to have that boring LEGO head. Administrators work constantly on making shapes, or meshes for the head.
Faces
The default picture "decal" is really plain and noobish. So, Roblox offers different poses for your head.
Gear
Gear are strong weapons bought by Telamon and ROBLOX. You can use those in Gear-Allowed places to fight and kill people with their gear.
Builder's Club
Premium Memberships
Sure, anyone can enjoy Roblox, but you can join Builder's Club for $5.95 USD for a month or buy Builder's Club for life for $200 USD. And with Builder's Club, you can have 10 places instead of 1, sell shirts and pants, earn a daily allowance, and last of all, get a nice Builder's Club badge.
