In Love and Death

In Love and Death is the second studio album by The Used. It was released on September 28, 2004 and has since been certified gold.[1] It is their most well-received and successful album to date.[2] This was the first album for which Alex Pardee did the artwork, and he has done all artwork for The Used since. The title and music reference a number of tragic events that surrounded vocalist Bert McCracken during the album's production, notably the death of his pregnant girlfriend.
Reissue
The album was re-released on May 3, 2005 with the addition of a bonus track, a cover of David Bowie and Queen's "Under Pressure", in which they collaborated with My Chemical Romance. An article in Kerrang! Magazine said that the bonus track was added to later pressings of the album without the band's permission.[citation needed]

Backmasking
The beginning of Cut Up Angels contains backmasking which, when reversed sounds like "Warm gun mama, Happiness Is A Warm Gun.", supposedly a reference to the song by The Beatles. The same backmasking appears in the song Dark Days.
