Silton Bookman.

Not sure if this is the right place for a messgae to you sorry if it is not. I am trying to remember things that I was involved in 25 years ago and as I am not in the prime of life this is coming very slowly. I am trying to floow the Wiki principle of getting the whole of human knowledge on wiki. I only started this page last night and having these no source messages is not helping as the source is me. What else can I do dont frighten me off...thanks...Deben Dave (talk) 12:41, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is the right place. One of the issues associated with writing an self-sourced article is it may fail to meet the criteria for citing verifiable, third-party, independent sources. Not everything gets into Wikipedia, they have to be verifiable and Notabile. I would suggest you put together the article in a User/sandbox, get it up to speed and then upload it to the Wikipedia mainspace.
The problem may be that without citing citing verifiable, third-party, independent sources, it may not survive review by the editor population. Good luck and if I can be of help, please let me know. ttonyb1 (talk) 03:37, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Hello,

I still am not sure how to create a sandbox after going to my userpage. Please give me the instructions again. I am trying to save my little pages before they are deleted.

Cincinnati2007

In the Creating user subpages section of Wikipedia:User page there is a link at the end of the line that starts, "User:Example/Lipsum is an example of a user subpage for User:Example. Your user page, if it exists yet, is here. If you wanted to create a user subpage called "Sandbox", you would find it..." ttonyb1 (talk) 04:31, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Ttony, I am curious, if I might: What is the difference between a CSD, a Prod, and an AfD? I ask primarily because I see some articles that go through all three, some that go straight to AfD, and some that get a Prod but not a CSD and then go to AfD. I also ask because the AfD process is often quicker than the Prod process (which takes a week, minimum; AfD sometimes only takes 2-3 days).

I know there's no fixed deadline, but as I said...could I get what you would consider to be reasonable guidelines for preferring a Prod to either of the other two? Thanks.Tyrenon (talk) 03:52, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, each are a form of nomination for deletion and are used in different circumstances. The CSD is used when there is a clear violation or discrepancy between the article and WP guidelines. (i.e., An attack on a person, a blatant copyright vio, or an article that fails to establish Notability and is not salvageable.) When a CSD is considered one must take into consideration if the article can be salvaged or if the article has the potential for life - can Notability be established for it.
If the article does not fit the criteria of a CSD article, then it can be Prod'd. This gives everyone a chance to look at the article to try to assess and, if necessary, make changes to it. One of the issues some have with this process is the Prod can be removed without cause by anyone including the author. The advantage is it does give the author some time to make to the article without having deleted before they are finished. Prods are also useful when an article does not fit into a CSD category, such as NN films.
If the Prod and CSD are refuted and one still thinks the article should be deleted or there is some controversy about the article, the AfD can be used to elicit community discussion to keep or delete the article.
Take a look at WP:SPEEDY, WP:AFD, and WP:PROD for more details about when to use the tags.
My best to you and if I can be of any help, please let me know. ttonyb1 (talk) 04:16, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your attention is requested on Cyclone Airways which you have tagged for deletion. Thanks. bedcrawl (talk) 05:59, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Given the page was deleted on April 22, I am not sure what you are referring to. ttonyb1 (talk) 14:33, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

J. Todd Anderson

Just a friendly note on J. Todd Anderson. On the surface, an A7 speedy deletion seemed reasonable (although I could see a claim of importance if I really stretched), but a gnews search shows there may be notability here. Feel free to take to AfD if you think it needs to go.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 15:02, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I agree and probably will not move it to an AfD. ttonyb1 (talk) 15:13, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I did not create the page for Bob Pfeifer; it was a blank page I clicked through from Human Switchboard's page. I just filled in the content. I was in the process of adding external links to verify it when you marked it for deletion. Thanks for the help!

My pleasure...BTW - what kept it on Wikipedia was not the importance to the community, but rather your work to make it a viable article. Nice job... ttonyb1 (talk) 13:37, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gordon Bissell does exist, he lives in Palmer Alaska, and my dad knows him. Anyone who thinks they know is to me a moron. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikimeister2835 (talkcontribs) 03:12, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you read the section WP:CIVIL. Wikipedia is a community and if you feel the article has been wrongly marked for deletion I suggest rather than blaming others you provide references to support your assertion. My best to you... ttonyb1 (talk) 03:18, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Please stop. continuing to remove maintenance templates, as you did to Providencia Ranch, without resolving the problem that the template refers to may be considered vandalism. Further edits of this type may result in you being blocked from editing Wikipedia. ttonyb1 (talk) 18:34, 3 May 2009 (UTC)"

Sorry I, what ever I have done, it was unintentional . As the author of the article : "Providencia Ranch" I just learning the coding. I thought I had added the require format changes. Could you clarify the the statements called "maintenance templates" . Please give me more information, by example, or show me how. Please, explain the meaning of the templates by examples of correct format code ?

Talk guide lines Behavior that is unacceptable Talk guide lines "It is unfair to threaten, some one you don't know. "continuing to remove" is not a fair comment to push on the internet. The topic will be published shortly. Please allow me to edit my own work. If its bad then help me.

First off, please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date.
The maintenance tags are the messages at the top of the page. In the case of Providencia Ranch, it is the box that contains the text, "This article may need to be wikified to meet Wikipedia's quality standards. Please help by adding relevant internal links, or by improving the article's layout. (December 2008)" Those messages are placed there to improve the quality of the article. I have added a welcome message to your talk page. I suggest you read the sections listed in the message, in particular, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, and Manual of Style.
I am not sure what you are referring to with the comments about threats. My messages to you are not threats, but rather an explanation of Wikipedia guidelines and the potential effect if the guidelines continued to be ignored. See WP:HARASS for more information about threats.
Please note that once you add an article to Wikipedia, you open it up to all to edit. In fact there is a note above the save button that states, "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed for profit by others, do not submit it."
My best to you... ttonyb1 (talk) 15:24, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Hermann J Wiemer Vineyards Ttonyb1, I work with the company and wrote much of the material on the website. What exactly do you want with respect to permission? An email on company letterhead? Thanks again for your help with this article. It appears that the user "arpeggiator solo" is the same person as IP address 71.36.101.63, who had defaced the page yesterday and today. Anyway I am assuming that he/she will continue to make similar attempts. Thanks so much, Hhtttt (talk) 02:20, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I have left a message on his/her site warning that vandalism is not acceptable and can get them banned from editing or creating articles. Not that this will work, but one can hope it will be enough to stop them. If not, we can see about banning them. My best to you... ttonyb1 (talk) 02:23, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tony. Bless your heart, I am so sorry that people shouting at you. I just want your help with this issue. I read the article you suggested and checked out some other Wikipedia entries like mine, and they were listed without issue. I certainly understand that imdb may not be the only source required, and I respect that. Would you be willing to help me by reading the citations below and seeing if that provides enough proof for our inclusion on Wikipedia? I thank you so much for your time. If you would possibly email me at debihall2005@yahoo.com with your reply that would be terrific. If not, I understand. 1)Dead Game had its world premiere at Festival du Cannes this year, and a link to that proof is http://www.shortfilmcorner.com/sfcfilm/filmfiche.Aspx?id=12005137 2)In addition, we have been invited to submit this film to the Venice Italy International Film Festival. This is the #2 festival in the world. A film must be invited. 3) We also have invited submission to the Hamptons Festival. 4)And, on our Twitter page, we have over 1975 followers. http://twitter.com/DeadGameTM 5)Also, this film has received an Indie Award which is prestigious. Dead Game 2009

Hey Tony, in addition to the notes I just sent regarding this film, I wanted to respond to this notice from you with my sincere apologies. I have no idea what I did that was wrong. I am completely new to this process and I fear I made a terrible mistake. Although I'm not sure what that was, I am very sorry. I would never knowingly vandalize anything. Please stop. Continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Dead Game (film), without resolving the problem that the template refers to may be considered vandalism.
