Airtel Super Singer is an Indian singing competition in Tamil language airing on STAR Vijay. The program seeks to discover the best singing talent in Tamil Nadu through a series of statewide auditions. The show is sponsored by the mobile service provider, Airtel. The show debuted in 2006 and is currently in its second season. The winner of event gets a chance to sing a Tamil movie song. This current season's winner will be singing with music director, Yuvan Shankar Raja.[1][2][3]

The show usually airs on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights in India and is telecast worldwide through partner broadcasting networks.

Season synopsis

Season 1

The first season of Airtel Super Singer debuted in 2006. Nikhil Mathew was announced the winner and was selected to sing a song, Enadhuyire in the Tamil film, Bheema for the music director, Harris Jayaraj.

Season 2

Auditions for the 2008 show started on June 27, 2008. Judges had to shortlist from about 10000 canditates from auditions in three cities, Chennai, Tiruchirapalli and Coimbatore. Unnikrishnan, Sujatha and Srinivas are the judges of the show. Ajesh won after a tough battle to win. He is set to perform a song by Yuvan Shankar Raja later this year or early next year.
