The GW Patriot is a journal of politics and culture at the George Washington University. The Patriot's blog attracts attention[1] by covering and commenting on issues in a way that the official campus newspaper, the Hatchet, does not. Their editorial board's twitter account claims to "have thrown political correctness out the window ages ago."[2] Numerous Patriot articles have been the source of controversy. The Patriot's editorial board is comprised of campus conservatives and libertarians who feel that the University's leftist orthodoxy needs to be questioned.[3]
About
According to the Patriot's editorial board,
"The GW Patriot is a non-partisan publication dedicated to promoting the free exchange of ideas in an environment where ideological diversity and serious debate are often lacking. As a journal of politics and culture, The Patriot challenges the liberal orthodoxy of university life by exploiting topics often ignored under the status quo. By giving voice to the endangered species of conservative and libertarian thought in our commentary, we seek to articulate alternate viewpoints for a truly balanced education. We defend individual freedom, intellectual diversity, and fundamental human rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We strive to inform, engage, and perhaps even amuse our readers. We invite the active participation of any student who shares our vision and would like to join our cause."[4]
With nearly 6,000 unique viewers[5], on a campus of 9,500 undergraduates[6] in the last month alone the GW Patriot is widely read on campus.

The Patriot is often critical of the College Republicans chapter on campus. A 4/10/07 piece, that was read all over campus, berated the CR Chairman at the time for his "totalitarian leadership" and
