hey...i went to the link below that's supposed to be a fansite for America. While i guess it is, it's http://www.bonkablebeauties.com/females/AmericaFerrera/ so my question is...is bonkablebeauties a good site for listing on the wikipedia article?

Explain to me...

How is this image allowed in an article about America? It was created to promote a movie, not her in particular. Whereas on the other hand, the headshot was created solely to promote her. -- Zanimum 16:02, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

It's normal for an article about an actress to discuss her movies. And if a screenshot or movie promotional image is essential information for disucssing the movie, it can be used. You should ask the person who added the screenshot to explain why he/she thinks this image is essential information for the movie discussion in the America Ferrera article. I, for one, can't find a reason.

An unfree "promophoto" of America Ferrera would be unnaceptable, as it would not pass item #1 of Wikipedia:Fair use criteria, that says that we only use unfree images when it's not possible to create a free alternative (which is not the case for a picture of this actress). For instance, if the screenshot is only being used to show how Ferrera looks like, and not for critical commentary on the movie, it also fails the 1st fair use criterion.

Quip against President Bush

Someone keeps changing this to indicate Ferrera was not critical of President Bush in her Spirit Awards speech and removing the reference to Zach Braff's expressed displeasure with those comments. I think by downplaying this issue you do 'America' a disservice, negating her specifically expressed opinion and any political sway she might have over her fans. While most people can reasonably conclude her comment was about Bush, you can't write that she said "America won't be free until Bush leaves office" because that would be putting words in her mouth (she didn't use Bush's name);original research isn't allowed on Wikipedia. This is why I wrote it was "interpreted" as being against Bush (because that's what the newsbusters link did). And using words like "disparaged" and "bashed" are POV aswell. And it isn't self-evident that Zach Braff "expressed displeasure" either; To me, he appeared to be to be pretty nonchalant (but i'm not going to write that in the text since that's my own POV). Gotcha, yours was an evidentiary evidence issue. While I think Webster's definition of disparaged - to depreciate by indirect means is applicable, the Zach Braff displeasure issue was from his post-award interview, but its almost irrelevant, and I think it reads a lot better without it. Political Activism paragraphs being deleted...

Someone keeps deleting the section about America's political activism. Being a Democrat is an essential part of who she is. She doesn't hide it and she has quite openly attacked President Bush on camera. Filmography/Television

Redundancy in Personal Info Section

The Personal section states "Ferrera is the youngest of six siblings which include one brother and four sisters. Her long-term boyfriend since college...." First of all, there should be a comma after the word "siblings." Secondly, it's stated in an earlier section that her mother raised five girls and a boy, so the sentence in the latter section is redundant and should be removed. Also, it's stated that America is "working on earning her degree," so the relastionship with her boyfriend would not be "since college," because this wording implies she is no longer in college. Whether her college status has actually changed is not the point. College status is irrelevant to her relationship status unless otherwise stated, and it should be removed from the sentence. The simplest correct way to describe her relationship would be to replace the phrase "since college" with an actual date.

personal life

first paragraph in personal life reads more like a tabloid than an encyclopedia. Especially the part that mentions a rumor they are engaged. Lead Improvement

The following sentence in the lead:

She is one of only four actresses to receive an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award in the same year for the same series.

is a bit confusing given the mention of her role in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in the previous sentence. Those movies also starred 4 actresses so the mention of "one of only four actresses" in the very next sentence is likely to lead confusion as some may think that the four actresses referenced are her co-stars in the Traveling Pants movies, as opposed to four totally unrelated actresses, i.e., belonging to an exclusive club of 4 actresses as opposed to being the most successful of the 4 co-stars from Traveling Pants movies. So, I suggest that the sentence make the distinction or name the four actresses, or perhaps shift the sentence up or better yet, expand the section putting the sentence away from the Traveling Pants sentence.--RossF18 (talk) 19:24, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Middle Name - article contradicts itself
