The following list comprises terms which have been registered as trademarks but, through common usage in their language, became either generic (trademark revoked) or genericized (trademark still in force).

By language

German

• Tipp-Ex - Whiteout company. English in origin, but used in Germany for all whiteout.
• Uhu - Glue company. Commonly used for all glue.

Russian

• Акваланг (Akvalang) – open-circuit scuba set, from Aqualung.
• Аспирин (Aspirin) – acetylsalicylic acid.
• Банкомат (Bankomat) – Originally Affärsbankernas trademark for their Automated Teller Machines (ATM), but is used for any type of ATM.
• Банлон (banlon) (now often badlon or bodlon) – a close-fitting turtleneck sweater, from Ban-Lon synthetic yarn and garments made from it. The use of the word is mostly limited to St.-Petersburg. The same article of clothing is referred to as "vodolazka" in the rest of Russia.
• Вазелин (Vaseline) – petroleum jelly.
• Геркулес (Gerkules) - oat flakes and/or oatmeal porridge, from Soviet brand of oat flakes [Gerkules].
• Граммофон (Grammofon) – sound playback device, from Gramophone.
• Диктофон (Diktofon) – a speech recording device, from Dictaphone.
• Дипломат (Diplomat) – a rigid briefcase with a combination lock, from Diplomat brand.
• Джакузи (Dzhakuzi) – whirlpool bath, from Jacuzzi.
• Джип (Dzhip) – off-road vehicle of certain proportions, Jeep (note: the name was in use as a generic noun in English before trademarking).
• Кеды (Kedy) from Keds training shoe. The same type of shoe known as Vans in the US.
• Ксерокс (Xerox) – copy machine, also used as a verb "ксерить" or "ксерокопировать".
• Лейкопластырь (Leikoplastyr') – adhesive plaster, from Leukoplast
• Линолеум (Linoleum) – floor covering.
• Магнитофон (Magnitofon) – a tape recorder, probably from Magnetophon.
• Памперсы (Pampersy) – diapers (nappies), from Procter & Gamble's 'Pampers'.
