Formatting question

{{helpme}}

I have been doing some work on the article List of College of William & Mary alumni to fix some problems with it, both substantive and format. I have replaced an image of Thomas Jefferson with a triptych of all three of the presidential alums. I cannot figure out the process for setting up the images so that the layout is right. I like the way the page looks right now, but it is only because I have spent the last hour slowly playing with the text and location of images. I feel that there must be an easier way. I would like to have the image of the campus start off in the upper right corner with the text all on the left hand side. Then--and this is where I am getting lost--I would like the GROUP of images (as a unit) to be right under that first picture, also to the right. Most importantly, I would like the text to wrap from line to line on the left-hand side. In total, I guess, I would like both pictures to be on the right, one right under the other. Then, I would like all of the text to simply start at the top of the screen and continue down, almost as if it were two columns at work. Every time I try, I end up with the first picture in the right place, and then there is some big gap of white space because I cannot get the text to wrap properly. Not only do I feel frustrated, if anyone ever makes more than a few keystrokes of changes to the article, the pictures will get all wonky again.

Thanks for any insight!

Have you read WP:Images? If you have not, please do because there is instructions there on how to format your pics. positions in the article. BejinhanTalk 03:31, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that help page, but it doesn't say anything about wrapping text between multiple photos. Also, because I used the special template for multiple photos arranged as a single item, it is not really clear on how/where to use these special instructions even if they applied. For example, in the examples on that page, all of the examples use the [[ ]] sort of set up which is not used for multiple-image items.

I've messed with it a bit, and come to a sort of halfway point, ProfReader....I'll keep trying and see what I come up with. I'm going to put the helpme tag back up in case someone who knows better comes along. Fleetflame · whack! whack! · 18:00, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What do you think about my version? Svick (talk) 18:46, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's almost the same as first Fleetflame's try. What's wrong with it? Svick (talk) 18:58, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would suggest asking this at Wikipedia Talk:Images, as the folks there tend to get all googly-eyed about images! Seriously, some of them know this kind of stuff inside out. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 22:08, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
