Definition

The first sentence in the article states that child abuse is physical mistreatment, whilst the four categories mentioned two sentences later are; neglect, physical abuse, psychological/emotional abuse, and sexual abuse. Shouldn’t the first sentence then be changed to: ”Child abuse is the physical or psychological mistreatment of children” or something similar. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Godtadet (talkcontribs) 08:10, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have expanded the first sentence accordingly. Alarics (talk) 21:39, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

reporting child abuse

It is very important that there is imformation on how to correctly report child abuse, it can be very difficult when you see child abuse to know what to do about it. I have had situations to which I feel I need to do something, only to be let down and threatened by the police for doing this. It is also important in ensuring we can prevent these crimes occuring and even wikipedians may save a child's life! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.240.134.84 (talk) 12:26, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sadomasochism

Do laws against child abuse cover the likelihood of sadomasochism ? I think that the case of child abuse would be the only case in which the modern practice of sadomasochism would be effectively outlawed. ADM (talk) 07:10, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Medical Child Abuse

Is there a place for a sub-section on this subject here? I have written about this subject here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dana-ullman/the-epidemic-of-medical-c_b_338645.html -- I am NOT suggesting that any discussion of "alternative medicine" here, though reference to the overdrugging of children seems to be an appropriate subject in this article. Yeah, sure. What this article needs is a sub-section based on on a shameless self-promoter's hyperbolic and inflammatory article, a thinly-veiled attempt to poison the well against real medicine to better hock his own pet products. Definitely. TabASlotB (talk) 22:54, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
