Suzi Perry (born 3 May 1970) is an English television presenter.
Biography
Suzi Perry was born in an RAF hospital in Shropshire, England; the daughter of a music promoter - her godfather was guitarist Mel Galley.[1] Raised in Finchfield,[1] she attended Smestow school in Wolverhampton, and had a school job as a lighting technician at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.[1] She went on to study business studies and finance at Wolverhampton Polytechnic [2].
Career
After college she had a break in modelling and spent 15 months in Japan and 18 months in London. Perry is the first female to present motorcycle racing in the world. She is now known as a motor sports correspondent, reporting on motorcycle racing for BBC News and also appears in other sports-related programmes, including Wimbledon, The Boat Race, The London Marathon, Royal Ascot and The Great North Run.
Perry appeared on the 2002-2003 revival of Treasure Hunt, where she took the 'skyrunner' role made famous by Anneka Rice. She also helped to present the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Her other shows include Housecall, Superstars, City Hospital and Holiday.
Perry currently presents Moto GP for the BBC, and since 2004 has been a co-presenter for Five's The Gadget Show, a hi-tech weekly programme, alongside Jason Bradbury, Jon Bentley and Ortis Deley. She was covered by Gail Porter whilst she recovered from an ectopic pregnancy. She returned to The Gadget Show in August 2009.
In 2006 she appeared as a celebrity showjumper in the BBC's Sport Relief event Only Fools on Horses. On 12 July 2006, after being voted off the show, she revealed that she had fallen off her horse a total of 12 times.[3][4] On 15 May 2008, she appeared on Through the Keyhole on BBC Two, allowing Lisa Snowdon to look around her property before being identified by the panel.
Personal life
Perry was married to Steve Bullock, a model from Sheffield, for four years.[1] She then dated and lived with fellow television presenter Nick Knowles. On 6th August 2009 Perry married her Dutch boyfriend, Bastien Boosten (whom she met whilst filming the The Gadget Show). Perry was the first celebrity bride to post her wedding pictures on Twitter. [5] Perry had an Elvis impersonator conducting the 30 minute ceremony. She currently lives in west London[citation needed] and has a home in the South of France.[1][6]
In February 2009, Perry suffered a ruptured ectopic pregnancy two and a half months into her pregnancy. She was taken to West Middlesex Hospital from a London film studio, where after losing four pints of blood she underwent surgery.[1][7]
She is a supporter of Wolverhampton Wanderers.[1]
Support for charity
Perry is a patron of Promise Dreams, a charity based in her home town of Wolverhampton that was launched in 2001. Promise Dreams raise money for children who are seriously or terminally ill and provide treatment, help and support for both them and their families. [8] Perry is also a patron of the National Association for Bikers with a Disability.[9]
