Efail Isaf is a small village located to the south of Llantwit Fardre in south Wales and is located in the County Borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf within the community of Llantwit Fardre. The former Barry Railway ran nearby. Efail Isaf has a village hall [1]Additionally, it has a range of very active social groups.

Cor Godre'r Garth is one of the most highly regarded choirs in Wales. It is a regular winner of the National Eisteddfod for large mixed choirs. It has sung extensively around Europe and performs around Wales and locally in support of local charities. Parti'r Efail is a men's choir which has also received national acclaim. Whilst its repetroire is varied, it was established to preserve the cerdd dant tradition, and much of its early singing was in cerdd dant. Merched y Garth is a women's cerdd dant choir, which has regularly won the National Eisteddfod for Cerdd Dant choirs over the last 20 years.

Capel y Tabernacl- Tabernacl Chapel is the only place of worship in the village. In 1970, its membership had dwindled to very small numbers and the members were considering the closure of the chapel. That co-incided with the arrival in the village of the Rev Eirian Rees, who had just left a full time minister's role in Neath. Rev Rees was invited to provide leadership for the congragation, an invitation that he accepted on an unpaid basis. Over the next 40 years, he worked with a large number of other people to build up a Welsh speaking and an English speaking congregation and to secure a significant charitable commitment from Tabernacl Efail Isaf to its wider community. The chapel now has almost 200 regular attenders in the Welsh congregation. There is a wide range of ages (approx 100 under the age of 18) and they come from Efail Isaf and its surrounding villages. The English congregation is smaller and its members are older.
