Kevin Earl Federline (born March 21, 1978 in Fresno County, California, USA), who sometimes refers to himself as "K-Fed," is an American dancer and rapper, husband of pop singer Britney Spears, and co-star of the reality television show Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, which consisted of home videos from the couple. Federline did not complete high school, but claims to plan to obtain a GED.

Relationship with Britney Spears

The relationship between Spears and Federline, chronicled in Chaotic, began with their meeting at a Hollywood club called Joseph's. Spears soon invited him on her European tour, The Onyx Hotel Tour and she proposed to Federline on the plane ride back from the tour. She reportedly had to buy her own engagement ring.

On the night of September 18, 2004, less than two months after his second child was born to actress Shar Jackson of Moesha, he married Spears in a non-denominational surprise ceremony at a private home in Studio City, California. Spears initially refused to have Federline sign a prenuptial agreement, although later he did sign one at the request of Spears' mother (the rumored terms: Federline to get $300,000 for every year of marriage). Federline has two children with Jackson: daughter Kori (b. July 31, 2002) and son Kaleb (b. July 20, 2004).

Before meeting Spears, Federline worked as a back-up dancer for Spears' ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake. His career high prior to meeting Spears was a brief appearance in Pink's video "Get The Party Started" and in an LFO video. He and Spears began dating while Jackson was still pregnant with Kaleb. According to recent interviews with Jackson, Federline did not break up with her before flying to Europe to join Spears on her tour, and Jackson learned of their relationship through the tabloids, along with the rest of the world. Spears seems to have warmed to the role of stepmother, and was frequently photographed with Federline's daughter Kori. On April 12th, 2005, Spears announced through her official website that she was expecting her first child with Federline. A son, Sean Preston Federline, was born on September 14, 2005 in Santa Monica, California.

Public reception

Federline has been the subject of much media and public ridicule. The popular website Fark insists on referring to him as Cletus, a reference to Cletus and Brandine Spuckler, the "slack-jawed yokels" from The Simpsons, and sometimes to Spears as Brandine, especially when stories (from "sources") of the couple's allegedly malodorous lack of hygiene appeared in an edition of the tabloid The Globe. In an episode of Family Guy, a fantasy sequence features Federline asking a magic mirror how he can "look like a douchebag today." The mirror tells him to not shave, shower, or change clothing, and to "walk around with an undeserved sense of accomplishment." Saturday Night Live featured a mock TV commercial for "Federline Briefs" underwear, with Kevin played by guest host Ashton Kutcher. In the sketch, the briefs were referred to as "man panties for wiggers."

Musical career

The aspiring rapper Federline's first studio album is due out in summer 2006. A minute-long clip from the track "Y'All Ain't Ready" circulated on the Internet in November 2005 to dreadful reviews and much ridicule. The album is rumored to be released sometime in 2006, even as early as February. [1] In a statement regarding his album, K-Fed predicted that "y'all gonna hate on the style we create, straight 2008." Interestingly, in the song Federline refers to the paparazzi that follow him and Spears as "Pavorottis". Opinions differ as to whether this was intentional or if high school dropout Federline actually didn't know the correct word. Recently, his producer Disco D announced that the track wasn't really Kevin's, saying he didn't believe that people actually thought it was real.

Federline released his first single, PopoZão, on New Year's Eve. PopoZão is Brazilian slang for - as Kevin raps in the song - "great ass". The track, produced by Brazilian producer Disco D, features a single verse roughly twenty seconds long, accompanied with a series of repeating hooks. It has become an easy target for Internet blogsters who criticize Federline's alleged lack of talent. An album is planned for early 2006 and a video featuring Spears is in progress.
