"Pulong Bato" is an extinct stratovolcano located in Zamboanga city, in the Zamboanga peninsula, in the island of Mindanao, Philippines.
Uknown to many people, Pulong bato is infamous because of Phivolcs not confirming it as a volcano. But, it is unusual that unlike other surrounding mountains in the city, it is only Mt. Pulong Bato that is solid rock
It is situated at the top of Upper Abong-Abong, in Barangay Pasonanca, only some kilometers away from the low-lying ground of the city's downtown section.
Geography
Mt. Pulong bato is located at the base of the Batorampon point, the highest point in the Zamboanga peninsula. According to some, it is an Intrusive type of volcano. Meaning if it explodes, its lava instead hardens as it is enclosed with a solid stone.
Holy week observance
The high mountain is near the premises of the famous Abong-Abong Park, where the annual pilgrimage by both domestic and foreign catholic devotees flock to meditate the passion and death of Jesus Christ during the Holy Week observance.
