Ye Maya Chesave (Telugu: ఏమాయ చేసావే English: How have you charmed me?) is a 2010 Telugu romance film directed and story by Gautham Menon, which features Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, in her feature film debut, in the lead roles. The film, produced by Manjula Ghattamaneni under Indira Productions, features a successful music soundtrack composed by A. R. Rahman, cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa,dialogues by Umarji Anuradha and editing by Anthony Gonsalves. The film's story was also simultaneously shot and released by Menon in Tamil as Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa with a different cast .[1]
The film explores the complicated relationship between a Hindu Telugu assistant director, Karthik, and a Malayali Christian girl, Jessie. Karthik falls in love with Jessie only to be met by her indifference, behaving reluctant due to the fact that they belong to different religions and her strict conservative family will never consent to this. An unperturbed Karthik keeps following and wooing her, who eventually falls for his charms. However, they have to undergo many problems and emotional conflicts; whether they can overcome all hurdles forming the crux.
Both the films were made and released simultaneously. The Tamil version, with the initial schedule with the lead cast in August 2009, following much speculation that Gautham Menon was set to remake the film with Manjula's brother, Mahesh Babu.[2] Shooting continued through the latter part of 2009, with the film garnering significant media interest, with schedules in the United States, with Princeton University being used as a backdrop for song picturisation.[3] Prior to release, the film's music soundtrack experienced phenomenal success for a Telugu film, with Rahman being critically praised for his score. The film, released on 26 February 2010, along with the Tamil version to advanced bookings worldwide and received positive reviews.
Plot
The film explores the complicated relationship between a Hindu Telugu assistant director, Karthik, and a Malayali Christian girl, Jessie. Karthik, a young filmmaker, falls in love with Jessie only to be met by her neglectance; and as he pursues to get her attentions and everything she does excites him. Jessie, however, is more shocked than impressed. With her conservative background: Malayali Christians from Alappuzha, her family will never consent to this and all Karthik's pursuits are rebuffed every time. They make a tentative arrangement to be just friends, but a train journey shows them that cannot happen. Finally, Jessie tells him flatly that she's going to get married, and nothing can stop the wedding. Life turns upside down for Karthik once again and the crux of the plot is whether he manages to convince Jessie to marry him.

Reception
The film was met with generally positive reviews. Film's lead characters Chaithu & Samantha received rave reviews for their acting skills and charming screen presence.Lead pair Chemistry really worked out well at the box office with a magic spilling on the audience. Some website said, "Samantha’s debut is one of the best heroine debuts in Telugu cinema. This dusky beauty is highly charming and she is cool in acting as well. The minute expressions she gave spoke volumes about her.
Trivia
While this has a positive ending, the tamil film Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya which was simultaneously released has the negative ending, as Karthik and Jessie gets separated at the end of the movie.
