Anna Torv (born June, 1979)[2][disambiguation needed] is an Australian actress best known for her role as FBI agent Olivia Dunham on the Fox television series Fringe[3].
Family
Anna Torv was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia[4] to Susan and Hans Torv[5] and grew up on the Hinterlands of the Gold Coast, Queensland.[6] Anna's father Hans Torv is of Estonian descent, but he was born in Stirling Scotland. [7] She has one sibling, a younger brother, Dylan. Her paternal aunt is the writer, Anna Maria Torv Murdoch Mann, who was married for 31 years to billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch.[8] Murdoch's News Corporation owns Fox Entertainment Group who in turn owns the Fox Broadcasting Company television network.
In December 2008 Anna Torv married her Fringe co-star Mark Valley.[9] They split in early 2010.[10]
Education
Torv graduated from Benowa State High School in 1996.[11] She graduated from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) with a degree in Performing Arts in 2001.[8]
Career
Torv appeared in the BBC series Mistresses. She also played the voice of the main character Nariko in the video game Heavenly Sword where her face was also used for the character model.[12]
Torv plays FBI Agent Olivia Dunham in the American television series Fringe. She was nominated for a 2009 Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television for her performance on Fringe [13] and received an Australians in Film Breakthrough award. She filmed Season 2 of Fringe in Vancouver, British Columbia. Anna appeared as Virginia Grey on H.B.O.'s miniseries The Pacific in 2010.
