The tenth season of Degrassi: The Next Generation began production and filming on March 26, 2010.[1] Although it is scheduled to air during the 2010–2011 TV season, it depicts the 2008–2009 school year because during seasons six through nine the series only showed one semester over an entire season. The executive producer announced on January 2, 2010 the episode titles of the first episodes to air. This season has an order of 48 episodes, as the show will air new episodes daily, switching to a telenovela/soap opera format.[2]

This will be the first season to not air on broadcast television. It will also be the first season to have simultaneous airings in Canada and the United States.[3] The first run, of 24 episodes, will begin after the feature-length film Degrassi Takes Manhattan, for six weeks.[4]

Characters

Raymond Ablack,[5] Charlotte Arnold,[6] Stefan Brogren,[7] Annie Clark,[8] Sam Earle,[9] Jamie Johnston,[10] Argiris Karras,[11] Landon Liboiron,[12] Samantha Munro,[13] and Melinda Shankar[14] have been confirimed to return as Sav Bhandari, Holly J. Sinclair, Archie 'Snake' Simpson, Fiona Coyne, K.C. Guthrie, Peter Stone, Riley Stavros, Declan Coyne, Anya MacPherson, and Alli Bhandari respectively. New to the franchise is Cory Lee[15] who have been cast as a new teacher, Ms. Oh,[16] and Munro Chambers,[16] Alicia Josipovic,[16] Shannon Kook-Chun,[17], Jordan Todosey[16] and Luke Bilyk Cite error: The <ref> tag name cannot be a simple integer (see the help page)., who have been cast as five new students, Eli, Bianca, Zane Park,[18], Adam & Drew. Shannon Kook-Chun will guest star in the season 9 episode "In Your Eyes".[19] Judy Jiao (Leia Chang) will only return for the first 24 episodes.[20][21]
