Saint Hanna's Church is one of the most beautiful Gothic churches of the world.


Wooden Saint Hanna's Church was build in Vilnia, the Grand Principality of Litva in 14 century.


History

  • 1394 – the first documental mention about wooden Saint Hanna's Church.
  • 14951500 – building of brick Saint Hanna's Church.
  • 22 May 1501 – consecration of the temple.
  • 15011507 – reconstruction of the church.
  • 1581 – reconstruction and second consecration of the temple. Acquiring form like today.
  • 1761 – fire. After fire smoky inner walls were plastered and external walls were painted in red color. Wooden coverings of roof were changed for stone vaulting.
  • 1812 – fire. French army of Napoleon burnt all inner utensils of the church.
  • 18481859 – reconstruction. On external covering of the church were made imitation of red brick.
  • May 1867 – fire. Because of the fire especially were destroyed the roof, the windows and the door.
  • 1871 – reconstruction.
  • 19021909 – risk of collapse. During reconstruction were strengthened foundation, drained territory. The walls were strengthened by metal construction, were anew erected vaulting and restored cracked brick, cleaned external layers of plaster. This time were used red loam.
  • April 2008 – over risk of collapse was enclosed a part of the church.
