Animation Nation

Animation Nation is an annual festival held in Singapore featuring animation feature films, animation short, seminars, and workshops. It was founded in 2004 and is organised by the Singapore Film Society, a non-profit organisation based in Singapore. Currently, Animation Nation is the largest known animation festival in the country.

2008 (24 October to 2 November)

The 5th Animation Nation festival was held from 24 October to 2 November 2008 at Alliance Française de Singapour and the National Museum of Singapore's Gallery Theatre. Other venues would be the upcoming Fusionopolis and the library@esplanade.

Film Programme

The festival consists of several feature films and approximately forty shorts divided into three sections. The main aim of the festival is to showcase recent works from around the world. Its programme consists of films that stretches from Japan, Korea, Thailand, Europe and as well as to USA. There is also a local segment called the Singapore Showcase which portray animation works by Singaporeans. This is to promote local talent and bring awareness to the public.

2007

The organisers will also invite several people from the industry to give a talk/seminar on their works and achievements. Most of them are directors, producers and filmakers of renowned status. Some key figures that were present for the 2007 festival was Nancy Beiman, Sonny Liew, Cameron Hood and Kyle Jefferson (both directors of First Flight).
