I'm not too happy about the layout (this is my first new page here!). And should I keep the characters as subpages? I think they might clash with real pages else... what do other Sandman fans think? -- Lilith

Changed the layout a bit in my edit - hope it's OK with you. Subpages seems the best idea for the characters, yeah. Might be a case for moving this whole thing to a subpage of Neil Gaiman and having the fairy-tale Sandman as the main page with a link to the Gaiman subpage, but I don't know about that. AW

Is the Neil Gaiman series called "Sandman" or "The Sandman"? That would be a natural disambiguation with the mythical sandman. -- Tarquin 12:54 Sep 2, 2002 (PDT)

Good thinking - the Gaiman series is indeed called The Sandman. This does leave the problem of the discussion of the various Sandman comic book characters, however. This could be a complicated edit, i'll have a go at it tomorrow morning when i'm thinking straight. --AW

Articles in titles can be tricky things, in that they frequently fall off: "The Sandman" => "other Sandman fans" etc. It's much cleaner to link without it where possible; "other [[Sandman]] fans" is much more natural than "other [[The Sandman|Sandman]] fans". --Brion

There. Notwithstanding Brion's point, hope this is seen as a decent way to manage this disambiguation. It's a fair point, but doesn't take away from the fact that the title really *is* The Sandman, not Sandman - accuracy is important, I feel. Now to try and fix this Worlds' End mess... --AW

Style issues

I reworked the page fairly extensively to make it comply with the guidelines at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages). Some of the entries are still probably a bit too long; Howard Simms should probably have his own page, and the Steve Abbott info should be mostly on his. I don't know whether the "member of The Dugout" and the rapper are notable enough for mention here or not — if the rapper is, he should probably have his own page at Sandman (rapper) or Sandman (musician), with a one-line entry here. I strongly suspect that the "member of The Dugout" is non-notable and should be removed. My general understanding is that disambiguation pages are supposed to give just enough info to enable the reader to find the relevant article, not act as merge pages for articles that wouldn't survive an AfD on their own. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 17:54, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Layout

Is it just me or is the distinction between concept and fictional character at best vague? Would this be better served by eliminating the first to combine with the second? --72.200.80.15 05:27, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Distinguishing categories

Just out of curiosity, what's the difference between "fictional" and "print"? Why make that distinction? 86.2.7.49 (talk) 08:46, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
