Conker: Live & Reloaded is a video game for Microsoft's Xbox console. It was released on June 21, 2005 as a remake of the Nintendo 64 game Conker's Bad Fur Day. In addition to a completely new Live multiplayer portion, the game was revamped to take advantage of the increased power of the Xbox, and additional "uncensored" content (which was unlocked via earning medals on Xbox Live), and a new chapter "X".

Gameplay

Changes

In story mode, the script is almost completely the same as Bad Fur Day. Added is a touch of "Straight Port" jokes and easter eggs. A parody of Van Helsing was also included.

The game has a new combat system for single and multiplayer modes. It includes a third-person camera perspective and controls similar to Halo and Unreal Tournament. It retains the platforming elements from Conkers Bad Fur Day.

Another change is that more words are censored in the single player than in the original version of the game (see trivia).

Xbox Live

This game has full support of Xbox Live's features; it is the most significant change from the original N64 version. There are various mini-games one can play in large tag team groups. The multiplayer aspect of this game involves around a war between the Tediz and the SHC (squirrels) in parody of Saving Private Ryan and the Terminator series.

Parodies

  • Van Helsing — Conker's costume in Dracula Chapter
  • Saving Private Ryan — D-Day segment
  • The Terminator — Haybot Battle in Barn Boys
  • Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines — Battling against Tediz
  • Jaws — The dogshark and its camera movements
  • The Matrix — The lobby battle against weasels
  • Aliens — The final boss scene, and in the multiplayer map "Three Towers", in which the destruction device in the hands of the Tediz looks like the device the space jockey was found in.
  • Reservoir Dogs — In the Rock Solid Disco when you meet the boss
  • The Exorcist — The Little girl & The Robot Boss in "It's War!"
  • A Clockwork Orange — The opening cutscene.
  • Starship Troopers — In the "A Bridge Too Narrow" level video, A demolisher fires at a mule 52, like the Rocket launcher at the plasma bug.
  • Star Wars — When Conker first meets the Panther King aboard the space station.
  • Terminator 2: Judgement day — The Machine Tediz walking through a field thats littered with squirrel skulls.

Trivia

  • According to the Conker Tepid Seat, a code to uncensor the words in the single player was created, but removed from the final product. The reason for this is because big retailers wouldn't sell the game if it had that option and Microsoft wouldn't allow it. This is ironic, since Nintendo, normally infamous for their censorship, allowed the game to say shit, twat and fellatio, but Microsoft wouldn't. The validity and truthfulness behind this reasoning could be considered questionable, because the multiplayer component of the game features such uncensored phrases as "cocksucking motherfuckers", and several other Xbox games have featured much harsher language without incident or modification, such as the Grand Theft Auto series.
  • Even though the code to remove censoring in the single player was removed, some retailers, such as Wal-Mart, still refused to sell the game. This is most likely due to the main character possibly appealing to kids.
