Note
As they've charted, this is unlikely to be deleted, and as someone else has watchlisted it, I feel no need to babysit it any longer. I've dewatchlisted it; have fun with the genre wars. Chubbles (talk) 14:08, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Whitechapel = purely deathcore
Whitechapel is deathcore, not death metal or any other genre - and here in this section is for all the people who would like to debate over their genre can go to cease the disruptive genre wars the page has held, but before you do I'd like to state the reasons why this is their only genre and as to why it is. Not only is it sourced several times.[1][2][3] But as to just state simple reasons see the following, this is a list of deathcore standards that they feature to further prove the band is deathcore, not death metal.
- They have breakdowns, death metal does not
- They feature a bar of melodic riffs at least once in each one of their songs, this is found rarely if not never in death metal
- They usually feature shrieked/screamed vocals which also is never commonly found in death metal.

- Well some death metal bands have breakdowns rather than the solo, because then all of the band can do compared to the one or two people at once for example Dying Fetus. The melodic riffs are in melodic death metal, other than the shrieked and screamed vocals, because that is in black metal its could be a element of death metal mixed with black metal and deathcore. <font color="blue"<panicpack121 3:33, 27 March, 2010 (UTC).
- You're simply crituqing in your own words; you have a source for any of this? No you don't! Whitechapel is deathcore plain and simple. And the only death metal song I've ever found that has a breakdown would be Hammer Smashed Face. • GunMetal Angel 21:41, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
- Point 1: Are you implying that Dying Fetus and Suffocation are NOT Death Metal Bands? Are you aware that Nile, Necrophagist, and Behemoth have also used them, albeit VERY rarely? Also Vireamia.
- Point 2: Melodic Death Metal and Tech Death. Obscura, Necrophagist, At the Gates, Arch Enemy, Anata, Children of Bodem, Illogicist, Amon Amarth, etc.
- Point 3: Shrieked? Not often. Screamed? Dying Fetus, At the Gates, Anata, Obscura, and some others have used screams though. Shrieking is more common among Black Metal.
- This refutation has been completely pointless, the inclusion of all of these things in a single band does not automatically make that band deathcore. There is far more to it than that, such as what scales and time signitures are often used. All of this has been completely pointless still in that on wikipedia, our opinions are worthless. The only thing that matters is sourcing. Varifiable and reliable source says Deathcore? They get labled as Deathcore. Varifiable and Reliable source says Death Metal? They get labled as Death Metal. Simple as that. 108.15.17.159 (talk) 18:16, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Proof that Whitechapel is Death Metal using undeniable sources.You can't ignore the fact their own Myspace states it.[4]You also cannot ignore that Metal Blade Records, the company Whitechapel is signed to says they are Death Metal.[5] My last and final piece of evidence and proof they are in fact Death Metal, is a description and video of Alex Wade being interviewed where he clearly says with his voice "being a Death Metal band".[6] Please consider this information I would greatly appreciate it. - DespisedRamos 18:27, 3 November 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by DespisedRamos (talk • contribs)
- You have no idea how much of a fool you're making yourself sound right now, I didn't make-up the deathcore genre or label Whitechapel, but reviewers that know music top to bottom did. They can call them dream pop or emo for all I care, because it's their word, not the band's or their record label's judgement that counts. Your comment "their own Myspace states" is a common thing for someone to try to get passed on some genre that they think the band should be because the band labeled themself that and might I also add that Myspace is not a source? Just because a group plays music, doesn't mean they can label themselves on what they think they are; if the world was like that then My Chemical Romance wouldn't be deemed an emo band. Same goes for their record label, same shit just a different name. • GunMetal Angel 18:36, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Are you jealous because my sources are better than yours? That I can browse google better than you? If my sources do not move you then you truly are stubborn and you are just hiding behind your mystical editing powers. Please tell me what your sources are please do, I don't want to be linked to dead sites and unreliable pages. Thanks. - DespisedRamos 18:51, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
