Christ's Church of the Valley (CCV) is an Evangelical Christian megachurch located in Peoria, Arizona, found in northwestern Maricopa County. The church was founded in 1982 by senior pastor Dr. Donald Wilson. Weekend church attendance exceeds 15,000, making it the second largest church in Arizona, behind Phoenix First Assembly of God, and the 16th largest church in the United States.[1]. The church currently employ's over 100 full-time and part-time staff members. The main worship center is designed by Todd & Associates. The pop rock band, A Change of Pace, hales from CCV and their video, In This Together, was filmed entirely on the CCV campus.

History

In 1982, Pastor Don Wilson and a small group of worshipers began meeting in a rented movie theatre. Since then, CCV has held services at an elementary school, a strip mall, the "castle", and Deer Valley High School before buying land in Peoria, Arizona in 1996 and moving into permanent facilities in 2000.

The vision and ministry of CCV extends past the borders of their campus. CCV is also involved in extensive mission support throughout the Valley, across the country, and around the world. In the 27 years that CCV has existed, they have helped start 12 new local churches and 5 new international churches. In addition to the new church plants, CCV has been a long time supporter of Stadia and has helped come alongside 6 churches in need.

CCV and 34 other churches founded the non-profit organization, Project StreetLight. It's headed by Larrie Fraley, Mobilization Pastor at CCV. The organization is currently headquartered at CCV.

Mission statement

At CCV it is our mission to WIN people to Jesus Christ, TRAIN believers to become disciples, and SEND disciples out to impact the world.

The Ripple Effect Campaign

The Ripple Effect Campaign is a $24.6-million expansion project for the Christ's Church of the Valley children's and youth ministries. The project began March 2006, when the congregation raised over $8 million in the course of just one weekend. Members of CCV were encouraged to "commit" over two years to donate a certain amount of money they deemed acceptable until the fundraiser's end date in April 2008. Overall, members committed over $26 million, which includes funds for the new construction project, a new nursery, as well as numerous mission's projects across the globe.[citation needed]

The new youth facility is now open to the public as of July 2008. The new children's facility, which includes a cafe, five children's worship venues, staff quarters, and over 30 classrooms, opened November 2008[2].
