Let's try something completely different

Taking a peek at your userboxes, do you know the proof for 1 = 2? I remember it was based on .9999 (repeating) = 1 but I've been unable to reconstruct it (after having not thought about it for many years...). PЄTЄRS J V ►TALK 18:29, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

$1-.99999=2-1.9999=2-2\cdot .999...=2(1-.999...)$, hence 1=2

More generally, for arbitrary a and b denote $c=a+b$ then

$c(a-b)=(a+b)(a-b)$

$ca-cb=a^{2}-ab+ba-b^{2}$

$ca-a^{2}-ba=cb-b^{2}-ab$

$a(c-a-b)=b(c-b-a)$
