Hi. I have declined your speedy, because that is not a valid criterion to speedy a userspace draft. You could take it to MfD, though it might be better to wait a bit; discussions there tend to allow some time for possible improvement before agreeing that something should be deleted per WP:FAKEARTICLE.

Two technical points about userfying: the right template at the top is {{Userspace draft}}, not {{user page}}, which has the extra benefit of automatically NOINDEXing the page so that search engines don't pick it up; and categories should be commented out with <!-- -->. I've done that for this one. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 13:19, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

FYI I have removed the proposed deletion tag you placed on IDF's withdrawal from Sinai and Gaza (1956-1957), because the article has been userfied and therefore cannot be prodded. Its new location is User:Coin945/IDF's withdrawal from Sinai and Gaza (1956-1957). —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:28, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Saba Wahid

I have declined your PROD on Saba Wahid, as it is clear that the deletion is not uncontroversial. It seems that the author wishes to contest the deletion, but probably does not realise that for a PROD, unlike a speedy deletion tag, it is OK for them to remove it. I am not expressing any opinion on whether the article should be deleted, only on the fact that it does not qualify for deletion via PROD, which is only for uncontroversial deletions. You may like to take it to AfD. JamesBWatson (talk) 17:12, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can't see it as a deletable attack. It doesn't demean anyone or any particular organisation (except perhaps the Infernal Revenoo and that's nothing actionable). I've no objection to you trying another category, or if you can't find one, prodding or AfD. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it don't look encyclopaedic not nohow. Peridon (talk) 16:45, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"can screw you for a late bill" sounds like part of their function in work. I wonder if 'context' could be used here. Peridon (talk) 16:53, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Come on, it's clearly intended as a sarcastic dig at various parties at least one of whom (Chicago Uni) might well be in dispute with the author for all we know. If someone writes an article that implies they've been screwed by someone we should nuke it even if it's a good article (which it isn't). It will fail my prod anyway. andy (talk) 16:56, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the registrar and seconded your prod. Agreed it's someone who's upset. Just looking into something... Peridon (talk) 17:03, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Redirected it to Irony. Historical Irony is mentioned there, but not in quite the same terms. If you prefer to revert to the prod2, I've no objection. Peridon (talk) 17:10, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just dropping by to let you know I have challenged your CSD A7 on Sporty's Pilot Shop. In my opinion, the claim that the subject of the article pioneered 3-day ground schools indicates why the subject is important. As such I think the article survives criteria A7. The article is still in questionable notability territory, but there are some reliable sources in there that make it borderline. If you still think the article should be deleted, feel free to use an alternative deletion process. Monty845 18:11, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't delete

Hi Andy, I am participant of "Beacon of Theology 2011" competition from Jakarta Theological Seminary, Indonesia. The competition requires an interwiki to other language. I made the article James L. Fredericks in Bahasa Indonesia, and I didn't find any articles about James L. Fredericks in English, or other languages I know. So, I made the article in English, and I think that the article have reliable sources. But if you want to delete it, please do it after 6 May, because the competition will end after 6 May. I am very grateful for your understanding. PT64Theodorus (talk) 15:00, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry, but all articles in wikipedia must be properly sourced, especially those about living people. Wikipedia is not a place for competition entries! andy (talk) 15:21, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Egmont (media group)

Hey Andy can you tell why the wiki site Egmont (media group) should be deleted?

The intent of the page is to be purely facts about Egmont, and not misguiding as the Egmont Publishing is at the moment. I'm looking forward to hear your reply Pbrun —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pbrun (talkcontribs) 12:47, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is nothing to do with me. However, wikipedia policy is that wherever possible you should fix articles and extend them rather than create new articles that have a substantial overlap. andy (talk) 13:24, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • First of thanks for your quick reply. The issue about to many pages seem reasonable... Since I cannot change the heading of Egmont Publishing to Egmont media group, I have merged it into the Egmont media group wikipage, The Egmont Publishing page can therefore be deleted, would this be the right way to handle this issue? Pbrun (talkcontribs) —Preceding undated comment added 13:37, 28 April 2011 (UTC).[reply]
  • You've got it back to front. Egmont Publishing is the main article - created first, most material - so you must work with that article. It's perfectly possible to change an article's title by moving it but this is a big thing, and given the very clumsy way you have been working on your articles I would strongly recommend that you discuss it first on the Egmont Publishing talk page and perhaps ask an admin to advise you. andy (talk) 14:41, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

for your explanatory note on the talk page of that rather misleadingly named 'council'. Peridon (talk) 14:50, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's why I only use it for things that don't need them, or are just over-complicated like starting AfDs. Basic stuff I can type faster... Peridon (talk) 17:53, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

E-Book

Andy,

I haven't seen you make comments regarding deleting my edits on the page in question [e-book] so I thought I would start a dialog with you here.

I'd appreciate it if you could advise me on how best to update the e-book in page to correct the inaccuracies it contains and to also, perhaps, include additional listings of e-book awards including the one that I proudly represent.

You see, the e-book page says there are two e-book awards out there and it's just not true.

The e-book page currently says: Two yearly awards for excellence in e-books are the EPIC eBook Award[37] (formerly EPPIE) given by EPIC, and the Dream Realm Award[38] for science fiction, fantasy and horror e-books. Both awards have been given since 2000.

Here are other awards that indicate that "Two yearly awards" is incorrect because they are not listed and so not counted:

Global eBook Awards (my favorite at http://globalebookawards.com) eBook Crossroads (http://www.ebookcrossroads.com/awards.html) Frankfurt Ebook Awards (from planetebook.com but since 2002 has been defunct) Publishing Innovation Award (has a Wikipedia entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publishing_Innovation_Award) ARe Best of 2010 ebook awards (http://www.arecafe.com/events/active/ares-best-of-2010-awards/)

MULTIPLE FORMAT AWARDS

These are for awards for ebooks that are in more than just ebook format but many of them will accept ebooks:

New York Times Notable Books of the Year National Book Awards National Book Critics Circle Awards PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction Man Booker Prize for Fiction Agatha Award Edgar Awards (Edgar Allan Poe Awards) Hugo Awards Philip K. Dick Award American Book Award Commonwealth Writers Prize

So, I think it's safe to say that by trying to update the e-book page to show there are more than "two yearly awards" is actually an altruistic move on my part.

And, if it's good form for Wikipedia to actually show a list of these ebooks, then we should include more of them. If these two that are listed should not be listed, then they should all be deleted so that no one awards competition gets more value than another by being listed here instead of not.

What say you?

Speedy deletion declined: Emerito P. Nacpil

Hello Andyjsmith. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Emerito P. Nacpil, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The existence of sources, even if I can't check them, really means I can't delete under A7. Needs to go to AfD for a wider audience to check the sources. . Thank you. GedUK  09:47, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ocean*Transfer

Ocean*Transfer

Hi, You've deleted the page I created about the Boston Band (Ocean*Transfer), the link is below. I am new to Wikipedia, but I've looked at a ton of different band profiles, and I do not see any difference between the writing that I have done, and the depictions of other bands. What is my article missing? Thanks so much for your help, I appreciate it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Sousabr#Ocean.2ATransfer -Brian
