A.N.T. Farm is a Disney Channel comedy television series. It was created by Dan Signer, a former writer and co-executive producer of The Suite Life on Deck. In mid-November 2010, the network green-lit a 13-episode order.[1] The series stars China Anne McClain, Sierra McCormick and Jake Short as middle-schoolers in a gifted program at the local high school called the "Advanced Natural Talents" program, or A.N.T. Production began in early 2011 and the series is scheduled to premiere during the summer.[2] The first promo was released during the premiere of Lemonade Mouth. The pilot episode, "TransplANTed", aired on May 6, 2011 as a special preview of the series after the series finale of The Suite Life on Deck.[3] The series will officially premiere on June 17, 2011.[4]

Production

Development

Disney Channel announced on November 11, 2010 that they had green-lighted the show for production, which began in early 2011.[5]

Characters

The cast of A.N.T. Farm: (from left to right) Stefanie Scott as Lexi Reed, Sierra McCormick as Olive Doyle, China Anne McClain as Chyna Parks, Jake Short as Fletcher Quimby, and Carlon Jeffery as Cameron Parks.

Main characters

  • Chyna Parks (China Anne McClain) is a musically-inclined 11-year old girl who is part of the A.N.T. program in high school. She is the lead character of the series, and plays several instruments (violin, trumpet, saxophone, etc., "and I also sing a little").

Olive Doyle (Sierra McCormick) is described as a know-it-all. She remembers everything she's heard, seen or read. She used to be afraid of the big kids but she's not anymore with the help of Chyna.

  • Fletcher Quimby (Jake Short) is an artistic genius. He has feelings for Chyna ever since he saw her, although he tries to hide the fact that he is in love with Chyna by acting weird and staying frozen. As a project in the pilot, he was doing the entire class in beeswax.
  • Lexi Reed (Stefanie Scott) is a student at the high school who is the lead in all the musicals, president of student council and head cheerleader. She thinks of Chyna as her competition.
  • Cameron Parks (Carlon Jeffery) is Chyna's brother. He tries to stay away from Chyna and the other ANTs.

Recurring characters

  • Paisley (Alexandria DeBerry) is a pretty but clueless girl who is best friends with Lexi. She is actracted to Fletcher.
  • Gibson (Zach Steel) is the A.N.T’s school counselor.
  • Angus (Aedin Mincks) is a computer wizard who often gets carried away by the older kids.
  • Darryl Parks (Finesse Mitchell) is Chyna's dad. He is thought of as a mall security guard but is a highly decorated chief police officer.
  • Roxanne Parks (Elise Neal) is Chyna's mom. She is a children's party entertainer.
