Polyus Nedostupnosti (Russian: По́люс Недосту́пности, lit. Pole of Inaccessibility) was a temporary Soviet research outpost in central Antarctica(82°6′S 54°58′E / 82.100°S 54.967°E) operating December 14 to December 26, 1958, located in the so called Southern pole of inaccessibility. The outpost consisted of a cabin manned by a crew of four researchers, equipped with a diesel power generator and a transmitter. Equipment and personnel were delivered by an antarctic tractor convoy operated by the 3rd Soviet Antarctic Expedition. December 26 the outpost was suspended indefinitely, researched were airlifted by plane.
