Requests for registration

Please read the guide on the main page before requesting permission. In applying for AWB access, you indicate that you will abide by its terms.

Also, this page is for requesting AWB Access for this wiki (English Wikipedia) only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.

Please add your name to the bottom of the list using *{{AWBUser|your username}} ~~~~~. Enter your user name exactly as it is, do not add underscores instead of spaces or change the case of the first letter.

If the list contains undecided entries that are over 48 hours old, please add {{Admin backlog}} to the top of this page.

Note that users with under 500 mainspace non-automated edits are rarely approved. You only need to give a reason for wanting AWB access if you have fewer than 500 mainspace non-automated edits.

If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage.

  • I am trying to figure out how to prove the two accounts are the same person, It looks like email was removed off Ling.Nut which would have been one way to confirm this. And Ling.Nut saying retired after the account password was aid to be scrambled seems odd. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:06, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Everything I do is odd. I did indeed remove my email and scramble my password. There is no longer any direct way to verify that I'm me, except to ask anyone who knows me... I can easily wait until 500 edits (that's the cutoff, right?) before I ask again, if that will set your heart at ease. – Ling.Nut 12:46, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Or almost anyone in FAC, probably including User:Dabomb87. But the truth is, there's no reason to bother anyone. I won't be able to use AWB very much for at least a few weeks (busy in real life), and by then I will probably have inched my way up to the magic number 500.  – Ling.Nut 02:21, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Are you editing from the same IP address & computer/browser? If your old account's info isn't too stale, perhaps a checkuser can have a look. —DoRD (talk) 02:41, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • This is getting excessively complicated. I almost always use AWB only to roll it over lists of articles (such as FACs or GANs; generate the lists using their inclusion in relevant categories) to check spelling, consolidate named refs, and remove teensy errors (like poorly sorted interwiki links, underscores in file names, etc.). I also often create and compare lists with it; the uses of those lists are innumerable... Folks, don't do a checkuser over a simple AWB request. That's killing a gnat with a siege cannon. If you aren't happy that I am who I say I am, I'll wait 'til I hit the magic number 500. 'Nuff said.  – Ling.Nut (talk) 14:37, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • information Administrator noteUser was blocked in May for edit warring. User has more than 500 mainspace edits since then.--Doug.(talk contribs) 10:25, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • I admit that I've had a bumpy start with my lack of policies; however, I've followed different DRs with the same editor till he got an infinite block. My only effort is to improve Wiki and that didn't happen again even in more stressful incidents, so I hope my history doesn't effect the decision here. Many thanks... ~ AdvertAdam talk 01:40, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not done You have well under the 500 edits to mainspace; is there a specific need that you have for using AWB? Skier Dude (talk) 02:25, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In this User I have less than the required 500 edits, as the User I retired (and vanished) from I had 20,000+. Regardless, I only have one use for AWB. This is to replace a png with the svg version on Commons. It involves a National Trust icon which is present several times on dozens of pages. --The Pink Oboe (talk) 10:52, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
