The Lost Hero
Jason is a boy who suffers from amnesia. He wakes up on a bus not remembering anything from his past, even who he is, and he was sitting next to Piper, a girl claiming to be his girlfriend, and Leo Valdez, a boy who claims to be his best friend. In a field trip to the Grand Canyon, storm spirits attack the three while their supervising teacher, Coach Gleeson Hedge, reveals himself to be a satyr, and fights for their lives. Jason surprises himself by using a sword disguised as a coin to fight off the spirits, and Coach Hedge is captured while defending them. At the height of the battle, two pegasi land next to them carrying strangers: a girl named Annabeth, a daughter of Athena and a boy with a tattoo of a rainbow named Butch, a son of Iris. Annabeth is angry because she had a vision that she would find a clue to her missing boyfriend, Percy Jackson, at the Grand Canyon. She was told to look for the "one with the missing shoe." Jason, who has lost a shoe in the battle, has no memories of his own identity, let alone Percy Jackson's whereabouts. Jason, Piper and Leo are informed that they are demigods (children of a god and a mortal) and are taken back to Camp Half-Blood where they meet other demigod children like themselves. There, Leo is revealed as a son of Hephaestus, Piper as a daughter of Aphrodite, and Jason as a son of Zeus and the brother of Thalia. He remembers his sister while seeing a picture of her in Cabin One. After scarcely a day after learning about their previously hidden identities, the three receive an urgent quest to rescue Hera, queen of the gods, who was captured by unnamed forces The three friends set off on the back of a giant robotic dragon, Festus (which in Latin means "happy") on a cross-country quest to save Hera and Piper's father from the clutches of Enceladus. Their enemies are under orders from Gaea to reawaken her and overthrow the Olympian gods by pulling up their original roots in Greece. On their way, Jason, Piper and Leo meet Boreas the North Wind (who lives in Quebec city), a trio of cyclopes, the evil enchantress Medea, King Midas, a pack of werewolves and King Lycaon (who got turned into a wolf by Zeus in Mythology) and Lord of the Winds, Aeolus who had given them something very helpful: A picture of a ship with a dragon head that Leo had drawn when he was a small child.. In the end the heroes and their friends, the Hunters of Artemis, manage to save both Piper's father and Hera, whose godly energies were being used to raise the giant Porphyrion. They temporarily stall Gaea's plans, but they will have to face the giants again. With part of his memory returned, Jason realizes that he is a hero from a Roman counterpart to Camp Half-Blood that is somewhere near San Francisco, and that Hera has switched him with the Greek hero Percy Jackson, who is now at the Roman camp with no memory of his life at Camp Half-Blood.
The Son of Neptune
The Son of Neptune opens with Percy Jackson being chased by the gorgon sisters. They intend to kill Percy to avenge him killing their sister Medusa 4 years ago. Percy cannot remember killing Medusa, in fact he can't even remember who he is! He barely escapes and stumbles upon an old lady named June. June gives him a choice, he can carry her across the highway and Timbres River and to Camp Jupiter to regain his memory and, eventually, save the world, or he can retreat the safety of the sea and live a long, happy life. Percy chooses to carry her, and when he gets to Camp Jupiter (a camp for Roman demigods), he stumbles across two new demigods: Hazel and Frank. Percy saves Frank from the gorgon sisters by creating huge water avatar hands, he then throws the sisters to the bottom of the river. Percy is taken to the camp, and he is interviewed by Octavian. During capture-the-flag, he impresses everyone by Percy's natural battle skills and instincts. Mars, the god of war, then appears, and informed Frank Zhang that he is his son, and that Frank is to go on a quest and Percy must accompany him if he is to succeed. Frank also requests that Hazel also comes. Percy, Frank, and Hazel are to free Thatonos, the god of Death. The three demigods set out on the quest. While traveling, Percy is struggling to retrieve his memory. It is also revealed that Hazel died, but that Nico di Angelo saved her and set her free. Also, Frank has a stick. It is to be protected with his life, for when the stick burns, Frank dies. Frank cannot figure out his "special talent", he often thinks of Percy as better than him because Percy has more experience, confidence, and skills. While speaking with Mars, his father, it is revealed that everyone on the elite 7 in the Prophecy each pull their own weight, Frank need to stop comparing himself to Percy. Percy has a fatal flaw, personal loyalty, and Frank needs to discover his fatal flaw soon.
When traveling to Alaska, they encounter Ella the Harpy. She is the most important harpy, but she is held captive by Phineas, also a son of Neptune. Percy makes a deal with Phineas...Frank retrieved the gorgon's vitals before Percy saved him, one vital will heal you and the other will die. Percy says that they will each take one and Percy will let Ella go if he chooses the correct vital...Percy does, and Phineas dies. With Ella accompanying them, they finally get to Alaska....the land beyond the gods. They reach a glacier and find Thatonos. His chains cannot be broken, unless melted by the fire of life, Frank's stick. Hazel attacks a giant, while Percy is defending Frank from hundreds of ghosts. Frank burned his stick, but was distracted by Percy. Percy transformed into a whirlwind and he was attacking the ghosts. Percy retrieved the golden eagle...the pride of the twelfth legion. Frank eventually freed Thatonos, and Frank is torn between helping Percy or Hazel. Percy orders him to help Hazel, and he suddenly realizes his special gift...he can be anything...literally. He transformed into an eagle and knocked the giant unconscious. The giant cannot die in Alaska, so they need to get him to Canada. They suddenly realize Percy's difficult situation, as Percy is growing weaker and more ghosts keep attacking. His whirlwind stopped and he backed up to the edge. He thrust Riptide into the ground and the ice around him started breaking. Cities, ghosts...and Percy Jackson went flying over the edge.
Frank was so distracted by Percy's sacrifice that he zoned out, Hazel had to inform him of the task on hand. They got on Hazel's horse, Arion, and went to Alaska. Arion can do just about anything. They retrieved him while "visiting" the Amazons. The took the giant to the borders of Canada, and as the giant charged Frank, he waited and then quickly transformed into an elephant. The giant died, and Frank and Hazel rushed back to where Percy went over. Percy was standing there, angry, but other wise unharmed. When they approached him, Percy greeted them and Frank noted that he looked like they were just meeting up for lunch. Percy said that the fall was nothing, and he fell twice as far off the St. Louis Arch. (he did this in The Lightening Theif) They looked appalled at Percy's non-chalet attitude, despite everything he just did. Percy regains his memory on the journey back to Camp Jupiter.
They got on Arion and went flying back to Camp Jupiter, they saw that the Camp was under attack. Percy took charge and led the Romans into battle, with the help of his old friends, Tyson, and Mrs. O'Leary, the hellhound. The Romans defended their camp with valor after discovering that Percy saved the golden eagle from the twelfth legion. Percy then challenges a giant to a duel, and the rest of the camp formed a circle around Percy and the giant. Percy calls to Terminus, the house god, to help him defeat the giant. (giants can only be defeated by demigods and gods working together) Percy eventually beat the giant after a treacherous battle. The camp was once again in awe of Percy's instincts and skills, and they named him praetor, leader of the Roman camp. Percy collapsed from exhaustion later that night, and he was confronted by Hera in a dream. She called him " a loose cannon" she also said that he is valuable because he is the glue that will unite the Greeks and the Romans. At the end of the book, Percy, Hazel, Frank, and the rest of the camp greet the Greek warship, preparing for the uniting of the seven: Percy, Jason, Piper, Frank, Leo, Annabeth, and Hazel.

He is one of the seven of the Second Great Prophecy, and has been part of the First Great Prophecy. His weapon of choice is Anaklusmos (Riptide). He is described as having black hair and sea green eyes. He is a natural leader. In the second book, The Son of Neptune, he is the protagonist and the title refers to him. His was made praetor of the Roman Legion despite being there for only one week. While speaking with one of his enemies, his enemy says that Gaea hates him the most. When his does eventually pass away, his fate it not going to be very pleasant. He, once again, has to make a decision that will make or break the world...except this time he will make the decision that will cost him alot. Jason Grace
Jason, aged 15–16, is a son of Jupiter, Zeus' Roman counterpart. He was first introduced in The Lost Hero as a boy who suffers amnesia. He is revealed to be Thalia Grace's full brother, but was conceived when Zeus was in his Roman form, Jupiter. He was separated from Thalia when he was two, as his mother offered him as a peace offering to an enraged Juno, the Roman form of Hera. He was raised by Lupa, the she-wolf and camp director of Camp Jupiter. He has control over lightning and can fly by riding the air currents, as Jupiter was the god of thunder and the sky. He wields a golden coin that can either turn into a sword or spear, which he loses in the end of The Lost Hero. He replaces his weapon with a gladius. He is a very experienced fighter, as he was trained to fight ever since he was three. Jason was described to have blond hair and blue eyes and Piper considers him very handsome. He and Percy seem to share the same fatal flaw, which is personal loyalty. In The Lost Hero he was revealed to be one of the seven demigods in the Second Great Prophecy. Amnesiac at first, he slowly regains his memory throughout book one and remembers some of his old friends.
Leo Valdez
Leo (age 15) is a son of Hephaestus, armed with a magical tool belt. He is revealed to have the power to create fire, which is a very rare ability for the children of Hephaestus. He does seem to be a bit of a prankster, but shows loyalty towards his friends. As a child, he was partially raised by Hera (Juno) under the name "Tía Callidia", who prepared him for his destiny of being a hero also Gaea appeared before him when he was a child to stop him because he in some ways is the very powerful. It is slightly implied that he has inferiority complex, shown when he belittles himself in front of Jason. He is also somewhat insecure due to his troubled childhood and it is revealed in the first book that he accidentally killed his mother after starting a fire.He is one of the seven demigods of the prophecy.
Piper McLean
Piper, aged 15, is a daughter of Aphrodite. She makes her debut in The Lost Hero along with Leo as a troubled kid in the Wilderness School. She too is fooled by the Mist and believes Jason to be her boyfriend. She is later heart broken after learning about the truth, though Jason does show signs of liking her back throughout the book. She has the ability to "charmspeak," which allows her to make anyone obey her by simply ordering them to. She retains the "damsel in distress" part in the book, and yet she is responsible for saving Leo and Jason's life many times in "The Lost Hero." She is more down-to-earth than other kids of Aphrodite, and unlike them, hates spending time in front of her wardrobe. Like all Aphrodite children, she is described to be very beautiful, having chocolate brown hair cut in a choppy manner. Her eyes change color from brown, blue, and green, just like a kaleidoscope. Piper is also of Cherokee descent. She is very rich, as her father is the famous movie star Tristan McLean. She hates her life, preferring a more simple life and is upset over the fact that her father is too busy to spend some time with her. Her father is kidnapped by the giants in The Lost Hero. She later saves her father at the end of the book. She is in love with Jason Grace and has stated that she is ready to 'compete with his past.' He is armed with a golden bow and arrows.
Hazel Levesque
Hazel Levesque is a Roman demigod. She is said to accompany Percy on the quest to unite the seven that will go to Greece. She is mentioned in passing towards the end of "The Lost Hero" as a friend of Jason's from the Roman camp. She makes her first appearance in The Son of Neptune at Camp Jupiter when Percy arrives. She is one of the demigods in the camp who witnesses Juno and Percy's arrival. It's possible that she has a crush on Frank Zhang. She is from New Orleans. She likes the sun since she moved to Alaska after living in New Orleans. Hazel also likes shrimp gumbo and gets sea sick. It was also revealed that she is the sister of Nico Di Angelo. She also has a horse named Arion, her most valuable weapon.
Reyna
Reyna is the daughter of Bellona. She was mentioned by Jason in The Lost Hero, stating that he had an unclear memory of her and implying that he once had a relationship with her. She makes her full appearance in the second chapter of The Son of Neptune when Percy arrives in Camp Jupiter. She seems to know something about Percy, as she reacted when Juno said Percy's name. Although when Percy asks her if she knows anything about his past, she lies and tells him she doesn't know him. She claims to be the praetor of the Twelfth Legion. Percy tells her his age and everything else he remembers. Like Jason, she has a tattoo on her arm that spells "SPQR", which stands for Senatus Populus que Romanus, which roughly translates into "The Senate and the People of Rome". She wears a purple cloak over her golden armor and is said to wear a lot of golden medals. She owns two automaton dogs which serve as her personal body guards. Her gold dog is named Aurum, which is Latin for gold, while the silver dog is named Argentium, which is Latin for silver. Reyna uses a dagger, like Annabeth does. Under SPQR, Reyna has 4 lines, as Jason has 12.

At the end of the first book, Jason reveals where Percy is and Annabeth vows to accompany the trio on their next quest to find Percy and to defeat Gaea. It was revealed in The Son of Neptune that Percy remembers her name and that she is somehow related to San Francisco, but has no actual idea what role she played in his life, and is bent on finding out who she was.
