Status

Today, the diversified VH Group is a 5000 crore conglomerate and a large Asian poultry company. The group has diversified into 30 fields including: poultry, processed food, animal vaccines, pharma and healthcare products. In December 2010, the group launched Venky's Exprs, a ready to eat chicken outlet, in [bihar]], as part of the company's ambitious plans for expansion.

Blackburn Rovers Football Club

On 19 November 2010, the company completed the takeover of Premier League club Blackburn Rovers for between £47 –£53 deal under the name Venky's London Limited.[1][2] Following the takeover, Venkatesh and Balaji Rao greeted fans by appearing on the Ewood Park pitch, before the match against Aston Villa on 21 November 2010. Their first match as owners ended in a 2–0 victory for Blackburn. After a 2–1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers, Venky's sacked Sam Allardyce and replaced him with First team coach Steve Kean. Blackburn survived relegation on the final game of the season defeating Wolves 3–2 and finishing 15th. After seventeen matches of the 2011–12 season, Rovers sat bottom of the table on 10 points. Despite vociferous calls from many of the club's supporters for Kean to be replaced, he remained as manager. After the 2-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers 500 Blackburn supporter's gathered outside Ewood Park and called for both Steve Kean to be fired and the Venky's group to leave the club. Venkey's are widely believed to be asset stripping the once proud Lancashire club and have constantly annoyed the fans and all involved with the club with speculative and unbelievable assertions, such as the promised signings of Ronaldinho and David Beckham. The Venkey's are so unpopular that the majority of Rovers fans want them to sell the club and have nothing to do with it, with the local newspaper and MP Jack Straw voicing their opinions on the matter. The refusal to sack Steve Kean, along with saddling Rovers with 18 million pounds of debt in their first year in charge, have led to people believing that they are sabotaging the club.
