Rollback

(add requestview requests)

User:Farine

I'm not a patroller or part of the counter vandalism unit, nor am I interested in joining these groups. But I do often come across vandalism here on Wikipedia and I fight it whenever I see it with different tools such as Twinkle, poppus, undo or even manually. I particurarily specializes in fighting malicious subtle vandalisms that try to pass for genuine edits. I never really was intested in the rollback feature because I was always sastisfied with Twinkle's rollback version. But recently, I wanted to download Huggle and I got a message saying I needed to have the rollback feature to use it. I hit a similar brick when I wanted to use Igloo. This has made me wanted to request for the rollback feature. I probably won't use it that much and will probably continue to mostly use Twinkle's rollback. But having the rollback feature, will enable me able to use Huggle and other alternate tools to Twinkle which is not always too friendly with Internet Explorer. As for poppups, depending on which computer I use, it can considerably slow down the performance of a computer. That's why, having an alternate tool to Twinkle or poppups has become necessary.  Done but please remember that rollback is only meant for clear-cut cases of vandalism. Salvio Let's talk about it! 01:31, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. You only have 241 edits to mainspace, and with your problems concerning patrolling new pages I would like to see substantially more manual vandal fighting and a grater understanding of policies before according you this tool. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:55, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Copying and pasting verbatim what I wrote on my request sure didn't help things either, huh. And his contribution page shows a lot of usage of Twinkle's anti-vandalism tool to revert good-faith edits from IPs. It would appear as if he's hunting for "vandalism" to impress the admins. This can't be serious. Farine (talk) 00:33, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I downloaded & installed the software Huggle in my computer to fight against Vandalism , but when i tried to login with my username & password on the project en.wikipedia.org , it says ""Use of Huggle on this project requires Rollback"" . So plzz , I kindly request admins to provide me the rollback rights to fight against spam and vandalism . However until now to fight against Vandalism I was using Twinkle .  RahulMothiya (Talk) 18:58, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
☒N Not done and not likely to be done at the present time. Salvio Let's talk about it! 19:10, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My main focus is article creation for the United States Supreme Court Case Article Improvement Project, but I like to use my time in between writing articles to help fight vandalism. I've fixed about 20 instances of vandalism using Twinkle over the last several months. I'd like to use the rollback feature to continue to fight vandalism. It's faster than Twinkle and will allow me to use tools like Huggle and Igloo. Thanks for your consideration! -- Sailing to Byzantium (msg), 20:51, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have used twinkle to help with vandalism and I have used the rollback feature for twinkle, I would like to use Igloo but need Rollback rights. JDOG555Talk 00:51, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Unfortunately, you don't seem too knowledgeable on how to respond to vandalism. When somebody vandalizes five times in a row before you revert, you should only issue one warning. (A level 3 warning is usually good if the vandalism is more minor, like blanking content. If it is grossly inappropriate, like defamatory content, then a 4im warning is usually appropriate. If it is edit tests, then a {{uw-test1}} would be better.) You shouldn't, however, issue increasing warnings for each of the five instances of vandalism and then report to AIV when the user has stopped editing. I was trying to edit some of the articles but some editor doesn't allow to edit their page and put the false or wrong information on wikipedia. So I need this right to avoid making such wrong editing. Prashantkharat 07:36, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
Not done. That's not the purpose of this tool: rollback just allows you to more easily revert a series of unhelpful edits made by a vandal and should never be used during a content dispute with another user editing in good faith, no matter how wrong you think they are. Furthermore, this edit summary is unreassuring: Wikipedia is the encyclopaedia everyone can edit, as in anyone including anonymous editors. It doesn't matter who made an edit, it should stay or be reverted only on its own merits. Salvio Let's talk about it! 10:35, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

User:Lord Roem

I am requesting rollback as I frequently skim recent changes to look for vandalism, revert it, and then warn the user. If there are any questions, I'd be glad to answer :-) Cheers! Lord Roem (talk) 20:48, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
