Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes
Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes, known in Japan as Sengoku Basara 3 (Japanese: 戦国BASARA3, Hepburn: Sengoku Basara Surī), is a 2010 action-adventure video game developed and published by Capcom for the PlayStation 3 and Wii. The game is the sequel to Sengoku Basara 2 and was released on July 29, 2010 in Japan. Sengoku Basara 3: Party, known in Japan as Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE (戦国BASARA3: UTAGE, Sengoku Basara Surī: UTAGE) confirmed to be released on November 10, 2011,[needs update] which features almost every non-playable characters from the previous version are now playable and a returning character from Sengoku Basara 2: Heroes, Matsunaga Hisahide.

Supreme Commander of the Western Army. He was previously a vassal of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, whom he viewed as a role-model and served with absolute loyalty. He is fueled by rage and obsessed with his desire to take revenge on Tokugawa Ieyasu for killing Hideyoshi, caring very little for other concerns, personal or political.

Friend of Ishida Mitsunari. Helps to keep the Western Army in line, as well as keeping Mitsunari's fury contained. Driven mad by his leprosy, Yoshitsugu seeks to bring misery and bad fortune that equals his own to everyone in the world, but is nonetheless concerned for Mitsunari's well-being. He uses several orbs as a weapon and rides a levitating palanquin. Holds a certain measure of respect for Mori Motonari.

Third leader of the Saica Faction, a mercenary force. Does care for money, and only has the Saica Faction take on jobs that will improve their status and standing in Japan. Each member of her faction is united by a deep bond. While most historical representations show Magoichi as a man, the name 'Magoichi' was used for the leader of the Saica and could have referred to a woman as well. She uses a variety of anachronistic firearms as her weapons, including pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, and a rocket launcher. Her real name, as revealed in conversations with Motochika, is Sayaka. She holds a grudge against the Toyotomi clan for their previous service to Hideyoshi which, presumably, ended badly.

Former member of Hideyoshi's Forces. Was driven away south by Ishida Mitsunari after his plans to take over Japan by himself were discovered. He is attempting to use the turmoil spreading across Japan to take over, but is constantly outwitted by Motonari and Yoshitsugu. He appears as a prisoner whose hands have been locked and cuffed with a ball and chain, which he also uses as his weapon. His alternate story paths focus on hunting down an falcon which had stolen the key needed to free his bound arms.

Tsuruhime is a young and naive Oracle and a priestess who wishes to protect her homeland. Because of her secluded life, she has very little knowledge of the outside world and of various things and concepts outside of her shrine, such as mistaking a tiger for a bear, and not knowing what "sadness" means. She became infatuated with the ninja Fūma Kotaro when he saved her life during a naval battle. She uses a bow as her weapon.

Ieyasu is now an adult and Supreme Commander of the Eastern Army. Was taken in as an apprentice by Toyotomi Hideyoshi after being defeated at Komaki and Nagakute. Rebelled against and killed Hideyoshi because he did not agree with his plan to take Japan by force. He now fights to unify Japan through peace and bonds along with his comrade Tadakatsu. He eschewed his previous weapon, a spear, and now fights with his fists, using knuckle attachments to complement his new fighting style

Charismatic young leader of Oshu. He seeks to unify Japan under his rule with help from his right-hand man, Katakura Kojuro. Was once thoroughly defeated in battle by Mitsunari, which lead to the weakening of Oshu's power. He resolved to fight against Ishida Mitsunari in order to win his lost honor back.

Leader of Shingen's Forces. Was given this duty because Takeda Shingen is ill. Doing all that he can in order to bring Shingen's dreams to fruition, but shows crippling inexperience. He has a rivalry with Tokugawa Ieyasu, as he was also a student of Shingen, that will come to a conclusion soon.
Tadakatsu is still fighting alongside Ieyasu. He now uses cannons on his shoulders along with his drill spear.

Pirate that resides in Shikoku. Successfully defended Shikoku from Toyotomi Hideyoshi, but failed with Tokugawa Ieyasu overran it later. Formed an alliance with Ishida Mitsunari after the attack by Ieyasu, his former friend.

After Mōri's home was attacked, he looked into restoring his territory. To that end, he joined the alliance with Mitsunari's Western army, alongside his rival Chōsokabe. His ultimate plans are to take over the entire country himself.

Carefree yet thoughtful friend of Uesugi Kenshin. Nephew of Maeda Toshiie and Matsu. Trying to spend his days as quietly as possible while serving Kenshin after the death of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. He has a grudge on Ieyasu for killing Hideyoshi, and also falls in love with Saika Magoichi, much to her discontent.

A cunning, sophisticated man who was introduced in Sengoku Basara 2: Heroes and returns in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE. His motives unknown, he travels the land collecting treasured things from those he defeats.

Shimazu planned to retire soon in order to let the younger generation take over. However, upon hearing about the escalating conflict between Ieyasu and Mitsunari, he takes his sword again and joins the fight to try to pave the way for the younger generation.

Younger sister of Oda Nobunaga. Was the lone survivor of the Incident at Honnō-ji, and returned to Nobunaga after he slayed her husband. This terrible act has eroded her mind, and she is now wandering the land with blackest of hearts. She uses her dark aura hands instead of her naginata as in the previous game.
Mercenary working for Hojo Ujimasa. Legendary ninja known throughout the country. Nothing else is known about him as has never spoken to another. Helping complete Ujimasa's plan to bring the Hojo name back to is former glory.

The infamous Demon King returns from Hell to conquer Japan once again. However,(spoiler) **Oichi sacrifices herself to drive him back to his resting place.** The other characters can also fight Oda with an optional path.

Commander of Hideaki's Froces. However, he is a glutton that is known for his inability to make decisions. Usually relies on others to make decisions for him, and eats his stress away. Loyal to Mori Motonari who treats him like a pawn. His weapon is a pot, which he spins on to attack. He also uses food ingredients to attack.

Unknown man who serves Kobayakawa as a monk. Respectful and polite, he is appreciated by many for his encouraging words and strong decision-making skills. His identity and true intentions are completely unknown, though he bears an uncanny resemblance to Akechi Mitsuhide. He wields two scythes which have life-leeching abilities. In the latest update of the game, it was revealed that Tenkai is Akechi Mitsuhide in disguised, as he survived from Hideyoshi's attack.

A very loyal general that serves Otomo Sorin. Known as one of the country's three greatest warriors. Puts great importance into respecting and believing in people. While being used by Sorin, he swore an oath to him, and will not break an oath as a warrior. He uses the Lightning Edge, which was two chainsaws which has lightning-based attacks.

Sorin is the young head of the Otomo clan, and loyal member of the suspicious religion known as Xavism. Is willing to do anything to create a nation of Xavism in Kyushu, and this has brought ruin to many surrounding areas. His territory is protected by Tachibana Muneshige. He uses a vehicle that resembles the head of Pontiff Xavi, which can shoot missiles and creates a musical field.

Head of the Mogami clan. Trying to take control of north-eastern Japan for the clan. Has already met Date Masamune and Uesugi Kenshin in battle, and is trying to use that experience to take the weakened Oushu from Masamune, his nephew. He wields a long, light rapier and can counterattack.

Date Masamune's most trusted and respected soldier. A brilliant warrior whose skills are matched by a rare few. Believes it is his fault for the loss to Ishida Mitsunari, and is now dedicated to bring him down and bringing pride back to Oushu.

Ninja in Shingen's Forces. Advising and watching over Sanada Yukimura, who is at a loss over Takeda Shingen's death. Knows when to leave Yukimura be and let him do his own thing, but has dedicated himself to helping the young man grow.

Genius strategist referred to as the "God of War". Retreated from the warrior life after Takeda Shingen fell ill and has no intention of joining the current struggle for power. Tokugawa Ieyasu sees him as the successor to Shingen.

Former leader of the Takeda clan. Due to being ill, Yukimura takes over his position of clan leader. In the latest update of the game, he has made a full recovery.

Wife of Maeda Toshiie. Taken prisoner by the Eastern Army in order to force Toshiie into joining their side. No matter what happens, she will always stand by her husband's side. She supports her nephew, Keiji, 100% in his soul-searching journey.

Head of the Hojo Clan whose ultimate goal is to bring honor back to the clan. Trying to join the Eastern Army so that he can experience the heat of battle. Was shown mercy by Kuroda Kanbei when he took Odarawa Castle for Hideyoshi.

A general in charge of an academy for soldiers, Satake is also known for his clumsyness, which he tries to get rid of with his training. He wields a pike.

A young aspiring spear fighter, Utsunomiya dreams of becoming a samurai. He owns a pet white tiger which he uses to impede invading generals multiple times throughout his level.

Leader of the Azure Castle, Anegakōji is a warrior that specializes in using plant-growing techniques, such as spiked trunk and rolling logs. He has a fondness for the forest that surrounds the castle. He wields a sword and can use tree logs and trunks to his attacks.

A rather laid-back samurai that uses sand as a special technique. He also has the ability to hide under sandy ground to elude attackers as well as sending sandstorms toward opponents. He wields a sword and the wind of the desert.

A boastful officer of Uesugi Kenshin. Ironically, he is the easiest general to kill in spite of his claims to invincibility.
Reception
Famitsu awarded the PS3 game version a total of 34/40, composed of a 9/9/8/8 score whit the Wii version gained a 33/40 based on 9/8/8/8[1] Capcom announced later that the game had sold 500,000 units in Japan, bringing the total shipped for the series to 2.1 million.[2]
Soundtrack
The opening theme is "Naked arms" by T.M.Revolution. The American version of the game uses the English version of "Naked Arms" as its opening. The ending theme is "Gyakkō" by Chiaki Ishikawa. The American version of the games uses an instrumental track called "Kizuna, Kokorozashi, Inochi" by Otani Kow.
