Keir David Peters Gilchrist[1] (born September 28, 1992) is a Canadian actor. Gilchrist is known for playing teen Marshall Gregson on Showtime's original series United States of Tara, and for starring in the 2010 drama-comedy It's Kind of a Funny Story.
Life and career
Gilchrist was born in London, England, where he spent his early years. He has a brother, Evan.[2] His maternal grandfather is Canadian banker, economist, and politician Douglas Peters, and his uncle is economist David Wilfrid Peters.[3][4] Gilchrist and his family relocated to Boston, Massachusetts during his childhood,[5] and then New York City, before finally settling in Toronto, Ontario.
Gilchrist discovered his passion for acting at a young age, and his drama teacher persuaded him to become a professional actor. He attended the Annex Children's Theatre.[6] Gilchrist portrayed Josh McKellar in Fox's short-lived television show The Winner, as well as Jamie, the boy who had developed a crush on Lizzie, on the show Life with Derek. Gilchrist more recently co-starred as Marshall Gregson on United States of Tara on Showtime, and played the lead role in the 2010 comedy-drama film It's Kind of a Funny Story.[7]
