Human Factors Engineering
Mawashi utilizes the science of Human Factors to understand the internal and external systems of the human body, and the body’s reactions in very specific circumstances. This allows the development of an appropriate concept of clothing and equipment that addresses these reactions and situations in order to ensure the protection of the people who wear them. Mawashi emphasizes the understanding and design for the Human Being, and studies physiological process and response, as well as psychological process and response. The clothing and equipement improved through Human Factors Engineering help the end-user be more mobile, flexible, comfortable, non-fatigued, non-distracted, and most importantly be well protected from ballistic, blunt-impact, heat, and other serious threats.[1].
Biomimétisme
Certains défis associés au développement d'équipements individuels peuvent être surmontés en s'inspirant des nombreuses solutions qui se retrouvent dans la nature. Les solutions qu'offre la nature à des situations très complexes semblent êtrent grandement optimisées. Mawashi étudie les formes de vie sur la planète présentes dans l'air, dans l'eau et sur la terre ainsi que les « mécanismes » mêmes de la planète (p. ex., la foudre, le vent, les marées, etc.)[2]
Mawashi combine ses compétences scientifiques en matière de biomimétisme[3] et de gestion d'impact pour offrir des produits de protection pare-balles, pare-coups, contre la chaleur et autres menaces nuisibles. En modifiant les formes, les structures et les configurations des matériaux actuellement utilisés, nous pouvons obtenir des meilleurs équipements de protection encore plus légers.
Gestion de l'impact
Mawashi entreprend l'identification et l'analyse complètes d'une menace donnée en effectuant une enquête théorique et expérimentale. Une fois la menace caractérisée et quantifiée, c'est ensuite au tour de la compréhension des effets de cette menace sur le corps humain. L'étape finale consiste à construire des solutions permettant de rediriger et d'annuler l'énergie de l'impact d'une balle ou d'un objet contondant entrant en contact avec le corps[4].
