Requests for registration

Please read the guide on the main page before requesting permission. In applying for AWB access, you indicate that you will abide by its terms.

Also, this page is for requesting AWB Access for this wiki (English Wikipedia) only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.

Please add your name to the bottom of the list using *{{AWBUser|your username}} ~~~~~. Enter your user name exactly as it is, do not add underscores instead of spaces or change the case of the first letter.

If the list contains undecided entries that are over 48 hours old, please add {{Admin backlog}} to the top of this page.

Note that users with under 500 mainspace non-automated edits are rarely approved. You only need to give a reason for wanting AWB access if you have fewer than 500 mainspace non-automated edits.

If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage.

  • Yes, a great portion of my edits are a product of Huggle. However, I am interested in becoming less of a vandal reverter and focusing on article content issues like grammar, tone, spelling and punctuation. I had hoped my constructive use of automated tools in the past would garner some modicum of trust in the consideration process. The Illusive Man(Contact) 01:09, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes we remember you Mr Dude, but you still have not taken up much constructive editing to show your skill. I would first like to see a few hundred non revert edits, that do not remove content but add content instead. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:21, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah thanks, I had missed the article space/other distinction. Happy to withdraw request unless longish service (4.5 years) counts. Mcewan (talk) 14:48, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well my contributions have been few in number but fairly consistent over the past few years, and varied (vandalism reversion, a couple of article creations, typo-fixing and some copy-editing, a few contributions to processes like afc and afd). I don't have a great deal of time to devote to the project, unfortunately. I'm a programmer by trade and it has been clear to me from the outset that the time I do have could be more productive if coupled with some automation. However I also recognise the potential dangers of automation which is why I have waited 4+ years before requesting this sort of feature. The specific trigger was trying to help with afc and the realisation that at least some of the help that these articles need would be easier with AWB. Mcewan (talk) 08:48, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have earlier also made a request for access to AWB. I had then 150 odd mainspace edits compared to near 400 now. Although, I do not meet the eligibility criteria here, I wish you understand that it will help me a lot to work upon and improve my contribution to Wikipedia. This is ought to be necessary for mine, since I'm a student and do not find ample time for it, even though I'm very passionate for so. This might serve as a great time saver for me. Please assume good faith one me and give a chance. Thanks! VIVEK RAI :  Friend?  11:10, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
