Talk:Bal Kumar Patel

Hello Skier Dude, I wrote page Bal Kumar Patel and after creation I noticed that you had earlier deleted Talkpage Talk:Bal Kumar Patel on G8. Since the page (article) has now been written as per guidelines, I have created the TP again. Trust this will be in order. Cheers AKS 10:28, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Please can you help me upload some pictures in wikipedia??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MelanieBrown (talkcontribs) 12:20, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to be doing fine - in fact, you have been warned multiple times about your uploads. I would highly suggest using a program like GIMP to pre-process the images before uploading them to reduce the size. Skier Dude (talk) 17:52, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Problematic edits by User talk:Sadiq_Khan.M

As a copyright image expert I am coming to you directly. I have also started a discussion at ANI Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents&pe=1&#repeated_copyright_violations_by_User_talk:Sadiq_Khan.M

The user's history [1] includes a long line of uploading non free images and dubious claims of self creation even after a final warning specifically about that behavior. Your advice / intervention would be appreciated. -- The Red Pen of Doom 14:10, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Would you be willing to hide this revision of a blatant threat? Thanks, SwisterTwister talk 02:01, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed the exif rotation info for the image File:KonicaMinoltaSuperMedia.jpg - did you want the malformed versions deleted? Just drop me a note and I'll take care of that for you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:04, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, please. I was in a hurry and couldn't seem to get it right. Thanks! Mgrē@sŏn 19:38, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral Point of View

Hi Skier Dude,

I've seen a notice on the page pertaining to an article I published for an employer. I am new to Wikipedia and want to do my best to contribute meaningfully to the site with all due respect to its policies and the interests of the users. I have tried to cite the article extensively. Any quote by a major newspaper or publication has been cited, every piece of work attributed to a major public figure and company has been cited. Please let me know what I should do to reach the best level of quality possible. I completely realize that I might not have done this the right way and I'm reading the guidelines now, however even as someone close to the subject, I believe that I have taken appropriate steps to ensure that the article is of a certain quality, and that any opinions expressed are supported by those given through highly reputable (and cited) third parties. I really would appreciate your help whenever you find the time.

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcr9336 (talkcontribs) 18:36, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Skier Dude, if you have some time there is a large backlog at WP:RPP. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 03:36, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Zeetv...

The logo you tagged for deletion... It WAS A LOGO.. i mean.. Zeetv changed their logo, so the old one is no longer copyrighted, isn't it.? --Anirudh Emani (talk) 16:10, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox image in the Northwestern HS article

Why was the header image in the schools infobox for Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, tampered with? What condition wasn't supposedly met? --Khemistry (talk) 03:05, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

First off - lose the "tampered with" language, which is usually used related to vandalism. It was not "tampered with" - since you've seen the image page, you would have seen the link to the Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria which refers to Wikipedia:Image use policy the reasons that these images are reduced. Also, logo images are normally displayed at 300px on the longer side, so having them stored any larger doesn't do any good. There's also Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Images and Wikipedia:Accessibility#Images for further guidelines. Skier Dude (talk) 03:10, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
First off, lose the attitude. You address me in a manner to which you agreed to when you decided to become a Wikipedia editor. Secondly, don't misconstrue my words and turn them into something I didn't intend. If I wanted to imply you vandalized the image, I have no problem telling you in such wording. I don't know you from a day in China. I have no reason to beat around the bush. Next, you didn't answer my question. Clearly, I can read and write English, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to figure out how to communicate with you. Had my question been answered in the supplied links, I wouldn't have taken my time to send you a message. Kind of a "Duh moment," there. So, again, why exactly was the imagine tampered with and what conditions weren't met? We can either do this the easy way — the way that Wikipedia instructs you as a contributor to handle conversations in a respectful and civilized manner, of we can escalate this to an editors dispute, if you can't seem to follow the rules are you are so quick to post. What's your pleasure? It doesn't bother me any which way. --Khemistry (talk) 06:25, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maryland Pride, there was no distortion - the word tamper has a clear negative meaning, and if that's not what you meant you shouldn't have said it - Skier Dude was quite right to tell you not to use such words, as at worst it suggests an accusation vandalism, and at best it implies a declaration of content ownership. If you upload images to this project, other editors may have legitimate reasons to alter them, and such alternations are not "tampering". It seems pretty clear to me that the warnings you received at Talk:Northwestern High School (Hyattsville, Maryland) have fallen on death ears. Pointing out the meaning of what people say violates neither WP:NPA nor WP:CIVIL, and you talk about "respect", but respect has to be earned, and you aren't going to get it if you go on the war path every time an editor does something you have the slightest disagreement with. For your information, I tagged the image to have its size reduced as uploading non-free images with an excessively high resolution violates WP:NFCC (see criterion 3b), as the software I had couldn't get a reduction in size to work, eventually resulting in Skier Dude coming along and doing it for me - something I thank him for, and really you should too.
