Vaglass (ヴァグラス, Vagurasu) is a fictional organization that serves as the antagonists in the 36th Super Sentai Series Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters. Led by the entity known as Messiah, Vaglass seeks to make the Earth more suitable to machines and seeks to wipe out the human race by tapping into the Energy Management Center's Enetron. However, sent into subspace, an alternate dimension where gravity is greater to the point that breathing can be painful, Messiah resolves to use its agents Enter and Escape to gather the vast amount of Enetron needed to re-enter reality. The Vaglass's base of operations is the ruins of the Transport Research Center that ended up in subspace thirteen years prior.

Messiah

Messiah (メサイア, Mesaia) was originally an unknown computer virus that evolved from exposure to the Enetron within the Transport Research Center's computer that it infected on Christmas Day thirteen years prior to the start of the series. Corrupting the Megazords and creating the entirety of Vaglass, Messiah intended to use the satellite system to extend its control to the entire planet. However, the primary three Go-Buster's parents and dozens of staff members including Masato Jin, the future Beet Buster, sacrificed themselves to send the entire Transport Research Center into subspace, trapping Messiah. Appearing as a giant skull, Messiah uses Enter to carry out its new assault on the city to amass enough Enetron for it to re-enter reality.[1][2] Though it is a virus capable of wreaking mass havoc, it is actually fairly unintelligent with a short temper, single-tracked mind, and impatient attitude. It orders Enter to bring it out of its prison as fast as possible, despite having little resources to do so, and angrily rejects Enter's slow but certainly effective plan for the sole reason that it would be time-consuming.

Messiah is voiced by Seiji Sasaki (佐々木 誠二, Sasaki Seiji).

Enter

Enter (エンター, Entā) is servant of Messiah, a human-like "avatar" that exists in reality while his real body is with "His Majesty" in subspace. Though he appears human, Enter's body is little more than solid data, and can easily be recreated when destroyed. Because of his state of being, Enter lacks a heartbeat. Able to disguise himself with the touch of a button, Enter conducts espionage tactics against the Energy Management Center to obtain Enetron, using some of it to bring Metaloids to life through his laptop and a series of Metavirus cards. He rarely does battle with the Go-Busters personally, but is shown to sport cable-like tentacles from under his sleeves and is more than capable of handling himself. Enter is also shown to be fluent in French, as he commonly greets the Go-Busters with and uses words from the language frequently. Beneath his frivolous and laid-back facade hides a very smart and manipulative nature, shown when he suggests that Messiah wait a little longer and save up enough Enetron to unleash several Megazords at once to overwhelm and crush the Go-Busters in one go. Despite his irritation at Messiah's frequent rejection of his plans, he is shown to be very loyal to His Majesty, proven when Messiah rejects his time-consuming plan and demands the humans suffer, he takes the order to the letter and invades a hospital to carry out that order to maximum effect. After the debut of Go-Buster Oh, Enter resolves to focus his goal on increasing the number of created Metaloids in order to transport more Megazords into the city to speed up his agenda. Though he steals the blueprints to the BC-04 Beetle to reverse engineer for a new attack strategy, Enter's scheme failed with the debut of Beet Buster and Stag Buster. However, Enter discovers a new method of placating Messiah's rapidly waning patience by replicating the Filmzord's ability to create projections of subspace on future Megazords, giving the evolved virus a euphoric taste of presence in the real world. Despite his efforts, the reserved and cautious Enter loses favor with Messiah and is relegated to Megazord transporting and Enetron theft after the more impulsive Escape is created.

Enter is portrayed by Syo Jinnai (陳内 将, Jinnai Shō).[3][1][2]

Escape

Escape (エスケイプ, Esukeipu) is a female avatar serving Messiah, whom she refers to as "Papa," created to replace Enter, who loses favor with His Majesty after failing several times to create human suffering. As such, she becomes a rival to Enter and delights in his failures. Escape's main objective is to cause human suffering, insisting that Enter should just stick to transporting Megazords and siphoning Enetron. Unlike Enter, who is more reserved and cautious in his endeavors, Escape is a strong woman who delights in fighting strong opponents and actively fights the Go-Busters simply for pleasure rather than objective, finding an ideal opponent in Blue Buster while under the influence of his Weak Point. Her weapons of choice are her twin machine pistols Gock and Magock (ゴク&マゴク, Goku to Magoku), which have semi-sentient dog-headed charms chained to the grips. She also carries a tablet on her person to create Metaloids with, using Metavirus card "apps" instead of physical cards.

Escape is portrayed by Ayame Misaki (水崎 綾女, Misaki Ayame), who previously portrayed Miki Saotome, Sister Miki, in Cutie Honey: The Live.

Buglers

The Buglers (バグラー, Bagurā) are Vaglass' robotic foot soldiers created by Enter using a Bugler Card on his computer. They are also capable of piloting giant Bugzords (バグゾード, Baguzōdo). The Bugzords are a set of robots Vaglass seems to have build into their Type Alpha Megazords for battle. They appear to be armored Buglers with cannons on their backs. They can be deployed from jettisoned-off cocoons from the Megazord's body or independently.[1][2]

Metaloids

The Metaloids (メタロイド, Metaroido) are Vaglass's robotic warriors, created when Enter or Escape infects an item with a Metavirus (メタウィルス, Metawirusu) specializing in a particular function, causing it to morph into a humanoid form. The purpose of a Metaloid is to function as a beacon, allowing a Megazord to appear within a radius of 3 kilometers due to a margin of error caused by the teleportation process. However, this is not limited to the ground as Megazords can transport underground and in the sky and more often than not, the Vaglass can take advantage of the area around the beacon. In battle, the sole purpose of a Metaloid was to originally deal with the Go-Busters for as long as possible so the Megazord can appear and siphon Enetron. However, when Messiah creates Escape, the Metaloids are given the new objective to cause as much human suffering as they can.[1][2]

  • Shovelloid (ショベルロイド, Shoberuroido): Shovelloid, designated S-46, is created when the Kaziru (囓る, Kajiru, "to bite") Metavirus infects an excavator. Going on a rampage as its Metavirus is copied and loaded into a Type Beta Megazord, Shovelloid's hydraulic bucket arm causes massive collateral damage while holding off Blue Buster and Yellow Buster so that the Shovelzord can attack an Enetron plant without interference. It is destroyed by Blue Buster and Yellow Buster after being nearly blinded with a laser blast to his optics by Hiromu.[4] Voiced by Takashi Nagasako (長嶝 高士, Nagasako Takashi).
  • Burnerloid (バーナーロイド, Bānāroido): Burnerloid, designated B-07, is created when the Moyasu (燃やす, "to burn") Metavirus infects a gas cylinder. • Sprayloid (スプレーロイド, Supurēroido): Sprayloid, designated S-20, is created when the Tokasu (溶かす, "to dissolve") Metavirus infects a fire extinguisher and the locker it was in. Polite yet deranged, Sprayloid is armed with an arm-mounted aerosol can that sprays an acidic mist, so it can dissolve away the walls of the Go-Busters' base of operations to let Enter in. Though it is programmed to die along with the Go-Busters so Enter's plan follows completion, Sprayloid is destroyed by Blue Buster and Yellow Buster prior to the hangar's destruction.[9] Voiced by Katsuya Shiga (志賀 克也, Shiga Katsuya).
  • Denshaloid (デンシャロイド, Densharoido): Denshaloid, designated D-48, is created when the Atsumeru (集める, "to gather") Metavirus infects an Enetron cargo train. Denshaloid's objective is to amass enough Enetron to enable Enter to create more Metaloids by siphoning the Enetron from the wiring systems in the city via the Metaloid's pantograph and Automatic Train Control. However, the Go-Busters destroy Denshaloid before it is able to complete the objective.[10] Voiced by Kensuke Tamura (田村 健亮, Tamura Kensuke).
  • Drilloid (ドリルロイド, Doriruroido): Drilloid, designated D-10, is created when the Horu (掘る, "to dig") Metavirus infects a handheld impact drill. • Fanloid (ファンロイド, Fanroido): Fanloid, designated X-10, is created when the Fukitobasu (吹き飛ばす, "to blow air") Metavirus infects an electric fan. It is designed to throw off Blue Buster's sense of body temperature, hoping to send him into his overheating and destructive Weakpoint. Its fan works in both directions, sending a powerful gust of wind or sucking in its target. Fanloid is destroyed by Blue Buster.[13] Voiced by Akio Suyama (陶山 章央, Suyama Akio).
  • Copyloid (コピーロイド, Kopīroido): Copyloid, designated F-94, is created when the Utsusu (写す, to copy") Metavirus infects a video projector for the purpose of obtaining the rare Crystal earrings, as one of the materials needed to construct a new Megazord, in the possession of popular Hong Kong actress Angie Sue. Copyloid scans a person to assume their form, making the Metaloid undetectable while in disguise. Though managing to get one of the earrings and giving it to Enter, Copyloid is destroyed by Blue Buster and Yellow Buster.[14] Voiced by Wataru Takagi (高木 渉, Takagi Wataru).
  • Tubaloid (チューバロイド, Chūbaroido): Tubaloid, designated O-10, is created when the Hoeru (吠える, "to howl") Metavirus infects one of two tubas for the purpose of marking the Go-Busters with his apparently weak sound wave as phase one of Enter's master plan. Managing to get only Red Buster and Blue Buster, Tubaloid is destroyed by the Go-Busters. However, Enter uses another tuba and the Hoeru Ver. 2 Metavirus to create Tubaloid 2 (チューバロイド2, Chūbaroido Tsū) to carry out the second phase of the plan to use his sound waves to shatter whatever his predecessor's music hit. As Yellow Buster's gear is not effected, Tubaloid 2 abducts her to serve as a hostage so the Tubazord 2 can siphon Enetron without interference. However, once Enter's two-pronged attack is revealed, the Go-Busters' gear is modified to resist Tubaloid 2's attacks before he is destroyed.[15] Both Tubaloid and Tubaloid 2 are voiced by Junichi Suwabe (諏訪部 順一, Suwabe Jun'ichi).
  • Soujikiloid (ソウジキロイド, Sōjikiroido): Soujikiloid, designated S-02, is created when the Suikomu (吸い込む, "to inhale") Metavirus infects a vacuum cleaner. Soujikiloid is normally polite yet becomes a violent berserker when he loses his temper. His cyclone system has been turned into an Enetron Cleaner, enabling the Metaloid to suck Enetron from any machine or use his vacuum arm as a gun. Though Soujikiloid overpowers the primary Go-Busters, the Metaloid is destroyed by Beet Buster and Stag Buster.[16] Voiced by Hiroyuki Yoshino (吉野 裕行, Yoshino Hiroyuki).
  • Parabolaloid (パラボラロイド, Paraboraroido): Parabolaloid, designated T-39, is created when the Sagasu (探す, "to search") Metavirus infects a parabolic antenna. Voiced by Taiten Kusunoki (楠 大典, Kusunoki Taiten).

Megazords

The Megazords (メガゾード, Megazōdo) are giant robots originally built by the Energy Management Center during their early research into Enetron. However, Messiah corrupted the Megazords' programming and turned them into war machines before being sent into subspace. Placed in storage, a Megazord can be retrieved and modified after a Metaloid's Metavirus is downloaded into it, reformatting it to possess the same attributes as its source. Once the download is complete, a Megazord is then teleported from subspace into the city to go after the Enetron tanks, siphoning the energy and transferring it to Messiah. There are different base bodies of the Megazords, of which there is the fast-moving Type Alpha (タイプα, Taipu Arufa) that uses Bugzords in a fight, the brutish Type Beta (タイプβ, Taipu Bēta), the multi-purpose Type Gamma (タイプγ, Taipu Ganma), and a Type Delta (タイプδ, Taipu Deruta) based on the BC-04 Beetle's specs that is designed for mass destruction.[1][2] During the events of Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters the Movie: Protect the Tokyo Enetower!, Enter creates the flight-capable Type Epsilon (メガゾードε, Taipu Ipushiron) armed with a powerful railgun, which he personally pilots.

  • Jisyakuzord (ジシャクゾード, Jishakuzōdo): The Jisyakuzord is created when Jisyakuloid's Metavirus is installed into a Type Gamma Megazord body, inheriting the magnetic abilities of Jisyakuloid that it uses to magnetize Enetron. However, with Go-Buster Beet magnetizing the Enetron tank to siphon back the energy it took, the Jisyakuzord is destroyed by Go-Buster Oh.[51]
  • Wataamezord (ワタアメゾード, Wataamezōdo): The Wataamezord is created when Wataameloid's Metavirus is installed into a Type Beta Megazord body. The cotton candy sticks in each of its hands can produce a sticky substance that is designed to steal Enetron directly from a tank. It can also release the energy from a point on its head as a defensive measure.[52]
  • Rousokuzord (ロウソクゾード, Rōsokuzōdo): The Rousokuzord is created when Rousokuloid's Metavirus in installed into a Type Alpha Megazord body. Sent to retrieve an Enetron Tank, its Super Chakka Gun (スーパーチャッカガン, Sūpā Chakka Gan) gives it greater defensive power.[53]
  • Keshigomuzord (ケシゴムゾード, Keshigomuzōdo): The Keshigomuzord is created when Keshigomuloid's Metavirus is installed into a Type Gamma Megazord body. Other than harboring a Type-Delta Megazord, the Keshigomuzord's Data Eraser arm is designated to delete the Buster Machines' programming data that include combinations and Animal Modes. However, with Go-Buster Beet holding it at bay, the Go-Busters manually form Go-Buster Oh to destroy the Keshigomuzord.[54]
  • Mushikagozord (ムシカゴゾード, Mushikagozōdo): The Mushikagozord is created when Mushikagoloid's Metavirus is installed into a Type Beta Megazord body. Not only is it armed with the Kanshi Machine Gun (カンシマシンガン, Kanshi Mashin Gan) on both arms, it also can project subspace into reality in a new way that compresses it, making it more difficult for physical constructs to operate within it.[55]
  • Sprayzord 2 (スプレーゾード2, Supurēzōdo Tsū): Sprayzord 2 is created when Sprayloid 2's Metavirus is installed into a Type Alpha Megazord body. Its aerosol paint can disguise any object, even hiding itself as a building in a district full of highrises.[56]

Other Megazords

  • CDzord (CDゾード, Shī Dīzōdo): The CDzord is created when CDloid's Metavirus is installed into a Type Gamma Megazord body, sent to steal an Enetron tank. The CDzord is destroyed by Go-Buster Oh. The CDzord only appears in the special drama sessions of the first original soundtrack.
