Albogues

The albogue is a single-reed clarinet coming from Spain, especially from Madrid (gaita serrana), Asturias (turullu), Castile and Andalusia (gaita gastoreña).

It is similar to a hornpipe, like the Welsh pibgorn and the Basque alboka.

Although the albogue is a woodwind instrument, its name is derived from the Arabic "al-bûq" (البوق) (literally "the trumpet" or "the horn").
