I'm left wondering in what way the contrast with Ferrell is striking?? How is the name pronounced? Shimwell (talk) 18:23, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rename

I would suggest a rename of this article to either "Christoph Buys Ballot" or "Christoph Buys-Ballot". It took me a bit of creative Google searching to even find this article, the way it is list currently (C. H. D. Buys Ballot), whereas this is not how he is referred to in context, from reading about him (and his dining room anecdote) in several books. --Libb Thims (talk) 13:52, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Doppler effect

Wikipedia does not seem to have the paper where Buys-Ballot discusses his experiment on the Doppler effect, and nor do many other sources. I suspect that this is it: Akustische Versuche auf der Niederlandische Eisenbahn, nebst gelegentliche Bemerkungen zur Theorie des Herrn Prof. Dobbler. Does anyone have an English translation? 5.151.82.25 (talk) 07:43, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
