Ittiam Systems is a venture capital funded company founded by ex-Managing Director of Texas Instruments' India Srini Rajam in 2001, developing Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Systems. It is headquartered in Bangalore, India and has marketing offices in the United States, UK, France, Japan, China, Singapore and Taiwan. It is represented through authorised associates in the US, Israel, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore.

Ittiam Systems is India's first technology firm to be based on licensing of intellectual property (IP).[2] Ittiam develops DSP based products; both off-the-shelf components pluggable into the customers' systems, as well as custom products. Revenue is mainly generated through licensing of its DSP intellectual property and reference designs.

In June 2003, Ittiam announced a revenue-sharing partnership with DivXNetworks to deliver DivX Certified(TM) solutions for portable digital video products.[3][4]

One of its early United States customers was e.Digital Corporation, a San Diego-based company that developed the digEplayer portable audio/video in-flight entertainment device under contract by Tacoma, Washington-based APS, now named digEcor. e.Digital's Robert Putnam was quoted as saying "We're constantly scouring the world for high-performance technologies that are already out there."[5]

For the third consecutive year, Ittiam Systems was awarded the title "The world's most preferred DSP IP supplier" in the DSP Professionals Survey 2006 by Forward Concepts, USA.[6][7]

The company has won many industry awards including Red Herring 100 Asia Company, which recognizes 100 private companies in Asia that drive the technology industry's future,[8] and NASSCOM innovation award 2006.[9]

In early 2007, ITTIAM became one of the few IP companies in the world to obtain certification for 802.11g IP.[10]

Name

The name "ITTIAM" is derived from the English translation of a famous quote "Cogito ergo sum" by René Descartes, "I Think, Therefore I AM."
