The 2013 mid-year rugby Test series (also known as the Summer Tours in the Northern Hemisphere) refers to the rugby union Internationals that are played through June, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. The upcoming Summer Tours will coincide with the 2013 British and Irish Lions tour to Australia. Visits to South Africa by touring teams will be in the shape of a four-team tournament, rather than according to the traditional pattern of rugby tours.

South African Four-Team Tournament

On 6 December 2012, the SARU announced that South Africa would host a four team tournament where each team will play two out of the possible three nations. Both the hosts and Samoa will face Scotland and Italy, but Scotland and Italy will not face each other in the tournament, and Samoa will not face the hosts unless they make it to the final. On June 22, the top two team will face each other to determine the winner of the tournament, with the bottom two playing in a playoff.[1]
